So I take it boss pedals arent that great?

I used to use a ton of boss pedals, a lot of them weren't bad. The only ones i didn't like were the syb-5 bass synth and the odb-3(too much noise, and that's coming from someone who likes noise) I only have two on my board now, the re-20 space echo and the sd-1. The space echo is just amazing and well, spacey, the sd-1 isn't great by itself but if i put it before my muffs it gives it a nice crunchy top end.

i remember when I started to play bass in the early 80's Boss was, well, boss! Remember, they were the first to come out with a delay and chorus in foot pedal form that the average player could afford. The only other options were very expensive rack units such as the 2290. I still think they make very good pedals. I just think that there are so many boutique pedal makers out there that we expect so much more from our pedals.

To say I like Boss might be a bit of an understatement. I got lots; octave, tremolo, distortions, tuner, choruses, delay, flanger, noise suppressor and even a useless PSM-5.

Lots of people around here seem to not like Boss gear, but if you don't try something you won't REALLY know wether or not you like it no matter how many demo videos you watch. I use Boss, and for the most part, I like what I use, if I didn't, I wouldn't use it.

Would you use gear you don't like?

I don´t hate Boss but also i don´t like them that much. Check MXR company with their "Bass Innovations" pedal line-up (BEF, BOD, Compressor, Bass Fuzz Deluxe) ... they show lots of love to us bass players, Boss is years behind.

At the moment i have +/- 30 pedals in total, only 3 Boss pedals and i don´t even use them on my board, more as backup pedals: OC-2, BF-3 and LS-2

I already sold a bunch of Boss stuff:
BOSS CEB-3: not that bad, but i had no use for it
BOSS AW-2: not my thing
BOSS ME-50B Multi FX: great as a starter but i prefer single pedals

BOSS SE-70 Multi FX: i liked it many years ago, not anymore
