There have been a few over the years, so I am assuming when you say FSR Standard, you are referring to the natural finish with the tort guard (it originally came with white guard when first came out) that is being discounted everywhere?? ... if that is the case, that model got a fair amount of love when it first came out, as its only competition was pretty much your Standard Squiers on the budget side, and the FSR was considered by most to be better ... since then and with the expansion of the Squier line-up as it has gone, that FSR has lost most all its appeal .. it runs $150-200 more, and its quailty runs fairly inconsistent, and can also be a bit on the heavy side (I had 2, both 10+#) ...
as far as the VM or CV ... you would have to play and decide, you can find supporters on both sides here ... in fact play all three, but it could be hard to find a FSR without buying it ... there really isnt much variance in the two on paper, the CV uses the thinner 'vintage' frets, and the VM the current 'med jumbo' frets used on most all the Fender offerings other than Classic Series and RW, so you really need to play for yourself to see ...
these Squier basses are everywhere in music stores to try, go by what feels and sounds like its calling you ... other than that, all you will be gettingon here are reflections of others 'personal' tastes ... JMHO
