I know, I know......marketing buzz and what have you...seemed fun is all. I love that the Behringer article fails to mention a product he uses...or am I missing it?

his new sig bass from Fender sounds cool though.... dual Darkstars...

all kidding aside I would be willing to bet he could show up most places and friggin slay on that CV even into a Behringer rig....yep even the cabs... :)

Well...People enjoy money and companies pay people who they think can help sell their products.

There are 100 elements to his sound when he plays live or records. Whether he has a Behringer or Aguilar on stage, he'd probably still sound the same.

without checking out this link, I was going to say he probably uses the pedals and/or those cheap mixers they have...if you watch that janek gwizdala interview that was posted here a while back, you'll see he's got a whole mess of pedals, and ultimately, if they work, they work. Same with Squier--if it plays the way he wants it to, then he wins.

don't let a company known for a cheap product fool you into thinking that everything they make doesn't work at the highest end possible... Sometimes the cheap stuff is the stuff that works the best!

no - but I do think its interesting and gives credence to the idea that sometimes the brand or name on the headstock is 'of no matter' - flies in the face of a lot of gear snobbery and those concerned about how others view their gear....


He is a great player - but I don't own any of his band's CDs and what not - what I have heard is pretty impressive though.

Plus, let's be honest, Behringer is a dirty word here and on bass forums around the world....but here is a pro who finds use for their gear...figured it would stimulate conversation or discussion *which is kind of the point of a forum isn't it?*

Some of them Beheringer pedals are supposed to be pretty sweet, I heard somewhere(on here I think), that their bass synth is better than the Boss it's a copy of, and IIRC they're the only pedal company at the moment that make a Slow Gear.

I agree that the name on the front is usually irrellevant. The exception, of course is if I am asked to use an amp I have have bad experiences with, which to me usually means, it stopped working on the gig, then I associate that name with those experiences as one would, no?,
But to me what xyz bassist uses always is these days. ;-)
None of my favorite players use equipment I would choose if asked.

this feels like its leading into a trend I notice more and more here - the answer to every post or questions is "Try everything and see what works for you" or "It doesn't matter what anyone else likes/plays/wants find what works for you"


while these are valid concepts part of finding what works for you is asking questions and asking for opinions - I mean if there is no validity to asking questions or discussing different options/gear/playing style etc WHY HAVE FORUMS LIKE THIS? Just for pissing matches and showing off gear porn? :D

And of course often times it is those players one like listening to, whom one takes inspiration from in terms of equipment also.

I have found that to be the case less, as I am gaining more experience and settles within myself-Getting older.:)
My ideas of what I wanted to hear from my equipment has not changed tho although I am starting to like older strings...:smug:

Well after following The Mars Volta for the last ten years & seeing them live about 18 times, following all the youtube bootlegs & interviews, i can say with confidence that Juan only uses Ampeg setups when touring at least. The only Behringer pedal he DOESN'T use is their vibrato pedal. He owns the Boss one that Behringer replicates & in the Janek interview he says its a good replica for the Boss because the Boss version is out of print & is a few hundred on ebay. I bought the Behringer Vibrato as well & love it to this day. I'm a vibrato kind of guy, but not everyone can get their head around the $25 price tag.
