Haha, well, I just did my first gig with the new band I'm with, and I think we did rather well. They're fairly established in our area, and have a small-ish, but loyal gathering of people. I basically wrote a bunch of stuff for our songs, played a rather short (about 30-40 min) set, and then to great applause, tore down the set.
As I was disasembling my rig, I had 4 people in sucession telling me that "they really enjoyed the bass solos, and that I 'really fill out the sound'" Well, I was rather flattered, though I didn't really know what they were talking about, because I didn't have a single solo.
Turns out that they didn't really know the difference between bass solos, and an "active" bassist. My musically inclined friend in the audience explained it to me when I was telling her is there was some kind of zone I slipped into, that I didn't know about.
It was a good gig, we had several people ask us if we were willing to play with them/at their venues, we made some new friends with the opening bands we had. It was a great gig
