So many rat based pedals

what makes you say that the video is poor quality? this is audio recorded straight out of the cab via an AKG D112 into my mixing desk?
They dnt sound muddy to me, it is played on a down tuned bass, but still how are you listening?
Sounds fine to me. Not studio grade but enough to tell the difference.

The video sound quality is just fine, and I listened through a nice set of Audio-Technica headphones. Maybe someone needs to get new computer speakers before listening to more clips online?
Anyway, the Cog sounds the best to me by far, although I should qualify that by saying I'm not typically a fan of Rat style pedals, so it could be that I like it the best because it sounds the least like a typical Rat?

Sounded great through my M50X headphones, really liked the COG!
Sounded fine to me too. The COG stock doesn't use the LM chip. I had Tom make me a version with the chip and I freaking love it. Cool demo Andy.

Thanks guys, I really was impressed by the rat, the cog is great, always have a soft spot for the rat tail tho dnt know why with my rig live it just works

Thanks for posting those; they all sound cool in their own ways. What works best depends on the bass, strings, amp, technique. etc. And don't forget the Idiotbox Blower Box for a Rat style pedal!

I bought a ProCo Rat recently for my son (he uses it for guitar, not bass) and it's really great.

Maybe not the best sounding video out there but at least there is plenty of low-end so you can hear how much those pedals actually suck it out.
And the Cog is definitely a winner in this category. I would use this pedal with a band. Not the others.

EDIT: Also, for those rat lovers out there: try a Dunwich Volt Thrower if you ever get the chance. So many incredible tones in one box - it's my favorite pedal that I own
