Double Bass so, NY?

country boy is going to the big city for a weekend, May 30th through June 1st. Are there any bass-related events to look out for? I'm more interested in classical music than jazz. apparently I'm too late for student rush tickets to the NY Phil...

Can't really help you with the classical stuff, but as far as the jazz side of things goes, Cameron Brown is at Cornelia Street Cafe in the Village playing with tenor saxophonist Jason Rigby. The band should be killin', and Cameron always sounds great. That's on the 30th. Sets at 9 & 10:30.

And, ahem, yours truly will be at the Jazz Gallery on the 31st with alto saxophonist Matana Roberts' trio Grace. This is a new group of hers that's rehearsing for the first time tomorrow. I'm looking forward to it.

Anyway, that's what I got....
