So...UPS is basically useless?

I have a UPS delivery scheduled for today.

Yesterday, they informed me that they would deliver between 12:00 and 3:00PM. Fine; we have a previous commitment around 5:45PM. No problem.

Today, when I can no longer change delivery options, UPS informs me that delivery will occur before 7PM. Oops.

I try to contact a human being. Not possible. AI is 100% dysfunctional. No information on options there.

I sign up for My UPS. But wait; when I select Change Delivery Options while signed in to My UPS, the website just asks me to join My UPS again. Try different devices, new login etc. Same result.

I guess this company is now wholly unaccountable with no human interface, a completely dysfunctional web site, and just lets their drivers / schedulers change delivery at their convenience.

I can see why previous posters have gone to Will-Call only. Maybe the web site will let me do that after a failed delivery.

Clearly, UPS sees the shipper as the customer, and the recipient as something beneath dirt, and to be ignored.

I get it that humans cost money. But, one might expect just a little bit more from the web site programming. Pathetic. My grandfather would have referred to them as "no-accounts."

Edit: the saddest part is that both I and the delivery folks are losers in the picture; because the delivery folks may now have to make other arrangements, which means costing UPS more resource time to deliver the same thing. The only winner is some highly paid jerk sitting in an office in a high rise who just doesn’t want to be bothered to figure it out.

What a coincidence...as soon as 4:45 hits it will update to 7pm. EVERY TIME.

I've had many recent UPS delivers where the "goal posts" were being moved mid-day as to delivery time. When that occurs, and you've stayed home to sign for an in-person only delivery it is frustrating. Last week I was waiting for a bass delivery, had the tracker working just fine showing a delivery by 3pm. Was able to watch it buzz all around my street for hours, only to have it update to delivery by 7pm right at 2:59 on the clock..lol

I’ve never had a good experience with UPS. Not once. Whenever possible, I’ll request that another carrier be used and I never use them when I’m shipping something.

I’ve had the same experience when trying to navigate their website. It’s definitely broken and it’s been that way for some time now. They don’t seem much interested in fixing it :poop:

I gave up on UPS long ago. I got tired of packaged laying in ditches out by the road, packages landing halfway across town, and packages with all the contents lost through a split in the bottom of the box from mishandling. Add to that the odd hours of the closest place I can get my stuff over the counter and the 45 mile round trip to do so, and it puts UPS on my DNC list. FedEx OTOH has been really good. They put things on my front porch and at least try to stick them behind a planter or something.

Issues with UPS or any other carrier are region specific. UPS, and FedEx are good in the NW suburbs of Chicago.

I suggest looking for other numbers to call UPS and mess with them until you get a live person. It's true that most companies force the automated menus, but if you are patient, you can get to an operator.

I hear UPS is good within country (Canada) but the only experience I've had with them is cross border. And if I needed a vital organ that could only be delivered by them I'd find a way to live without it! I've gathered that there are three things they cannot read: a map, a calendar and time! Directions fit in there as well. I've tracked orders from LA to the border, across the border, back to the US, back to Can, and again to the US.Then they tried to nail me with three times the customs/duty charges. I won't order anything if the only delivery option is UPS - Utterly Pathetic Service. Unlike a lot of what I've read on forums, the USPS has always been great. Sorry to hear of your frustrations.

i dislike piling on ("look on the bright side of life" is now playing on my speakers... :roflmao:) but since it happened two days ago, i'll vent.

had a scheduled delivery on saturday between 9:45 and 1:45. did chores around the house and kept an eye on the ups delivery map to see where the brown truck was presently at in my neighborhood.

i live in a gated community but all a visitor needs to do is raise their party on the gate's intercom to open the gate.

at around 1pm, the truck was about two blocks away so thought i'd meet them at the gate just in case.

i get to the gate to see the ups truck drive by. soon after, i receive the "sorry we missed you" email.

didn't even try... :banghead:

oh, well. it's back out for delivery in a couple hours so, should be ok in a few... o_O :bored: :D

It's frustrating... I have sorta made friends with my local UPS guy and he has my number and a good intuition around what stuff to leave, what stuff to call me about, and what stuff to hang onto. But having good rapport with a driver is just lucky.
I went as far as to start handing out 6 packs to make friends and get things faster but they rotate so much (or quit) that it became an exercise in futility.

But I will update my post from earlier and eat my words today - they just dropped off my package early.

After the UPS wage strike threat, they cut my delivery person's route so now all of my work deliveries are on the back of the pick up guy, who shows up at 4 PM. Now my customers have to wait an extra day essentially, since we close at 4:30. Earlier in the year they cut a third of the drivers, so it's a nightmare where I am.

With that said, I'll still use UPS over FedEx any day. FedEx drivers are contractors and when they decide to not do their job, there's nothing you can do about it.
