So I took the gig. The set list was forwarded a couple of days ago...so now the fun begins. It's mostly radio friendly rock, so I have an idea where I am going...2 weeks and counting .......

So, Would You Play the Gig?...

Seriously, take it. But instead of milling around here, you might want to get a set list in your hands, & start DL'ing some MP3s... But, as someone said, you best verify tuning first.
Ask yourself if you can play the bass well. If the answer is yes(and I have a feeling that it is) then take the gig. I think you'll have a good time and come away a better bass player.
id take it. i mean most of those bands, and sorry if this is wrong but had simple enough bass lines. and improvization is always ur friend, if you make a mistake do it again. well today is new years eve so i doubt reading this now will make any difference in ur desiscion lol
So I took the gig and played last night. It was fun and challenging. For their originals, I told them to wait until the 2nd set so I could get some chords down and they said no prob. Next thing ya know, during the first, they start throwing songs, both cover and originals, out that weren't even on the list. I would play the best I could and watching the guitar players and they just figure out the pattern. By the end of the night (we played from 21:30 - 01:30) everybody had a good time, they liked my playing, thanked me for being there and said they would probably call again. So all in all, I learned something new about playing and about personal limitations...and I will do it again without hesitation. For B-Note, some songs were: All along the watctower (jimi) / thank you, whole lotta love, the girl I love with the...(lzep) / no woman no cry (marley) / wild horse, sympathy devil, jumpin j. flash (r stones) / sweet jane (reed) / simple man, sweet home (skynard) / good times (chic) / time (floyd) / ziggy stardust (bowie)....and many others bla bla bla
