GK 1001 RBII does seem to be a nice choice even if I am a little bias, and at 700w it's fairly close to 1000watts, almost anything is going to be better than a 60 watt combo in a loud metal band.

I have around 2000 euros right now, but I cant carry an 8x10 around easily.Even though I play in a thrash to me distortion is just annoying, I always prefer a clean sound, with much treble.
Mohawk, LOL! Is that "controlling" or "fighting"? Sounds like Volume Wars to me, bro![]()
I have to disagree with those who say you don't need 1,000 watts. I had an Ampeg SVT 4 (1200 watts) powering 2 Ampeg 410hlf cabs (that's two 4x10s). And, I had it turned all the way up with the gain set as high as I could go without clipping with the compression set correctly too. I was playing in a 1 guitar band, with unamplified drums, and a vocalist. I wasn't loud enough! Had to get a 1,900 watt Carvin B1500. That fixed the problem. The problem: overrated tube amp with power hungry cabs! The Carvin stays at 3 on the volume and 2-2.5 on the gain.....aahh, headroom finally!!!
I highly recommend the Carvin B1500 with some cabs that can handle the power, I prefer 10's.
, Ive got a feeling those cabs you were using are inefficient, also, it depends on how much bass your adding etc etcI guess if you're trying to liquiefy the internal organs of small animals, your SVT4 wouldn't be enough. For most of us, 300w is plentyI have to disagree with those who say you don't need 1,000 watts. I had an Ampeg SVT 4 (1200 watts) powering 2 Ampeg 410hlf cabs (that's two 4x10s).
