Double Bass Solo Rosin

Knowing that Rosin is just part of the equation of getting a good sound, are there better rosins people use for solo playing?

I am doing a lot of soloing and single bass parts where I need to cut through and have a nice clean tone (also grip) . I am not a huge gear head but every once and I while I start to question one part of my setup (usually strings). I use carlsson now and never liked Pops...

Anybody.....?

Gary Karr uses the Jade cello rosin and my teacher, David Murray(a student of Karr's) uses suff called Sherman's. Both of those are very hard powdery rosins. I've found they work best on top of something like Carlsson's or Kolstein, but by themselves lack the start of notes.

Jade +1 (it is very powedery on the strings); also I've been using the new Petz Premium. I've used both Carlsson/Nymans and Kolstein all-weather and find these better for purposes.

Also Liebenzeller Gold or Silver (if you can find it) is pretty terrific for solo/chamber work
