Double Bass Solo tuning strings

Exactly what are solo tuning strings? From what I've read, they are tuned higher than normal strings, correct? What are they tuned to?

I've read where some on here use them tuned to normal pitch. Is that a pizz or a slap bass thing? Or are they recommended for arco as well?

Geez, sorting all this stuff with strings out at the beginning stage is a pain, not to mention costly if you sort it out yourself. And I thought just buying a bass was complicated. Glad you guys are here to make some of this work easier. Now if you could just make me play in tune

Solo-tuning is a whole tone higher than orchestra-tuning, thus:
F# B E A (bottom to top)
The strings are thinner, so you can think of them as extra-light gauge when used at regular pitch.
Some slappers are using that trick.
You can use them for whatever use if you're comfortable with the low tension.
