Is Hotone pronounced "hot one" or "ho tone?"
"How do I pronouce Hotone? Is it HO TONE, HOT ONE, or HOT TONE?

My recent frustrations with headphone amp options brought me to the Valeton Headrush Bass, which is also on sale today. So I went for it.
$32 is a great price on that unit. I'd accidentally been tracking the guitar model (which is on sale for $5 more), not the bass model.

I might spring for it too! Maybe even also for the $5.99 3-yr extended warranty.

Glad you posted these. My recent frustrations with headphone amp options brought me to the Valeton Headrush Bass, which is also on sale today. So I went for it. Thanks for reminding me!
Please report back. I've been looking for a headphone amp.

I use power hungry planar headphones so I have a feeling non of these plug in amps will be powerful enough

You're right You'd probably need to use cheaper, more power-thrifty ones. The batteries here are tiny and you'll get "up to 4 hours" on a charge but more likely 1-2.

There's a recent thread here about the Fender and Boss headphone amps, which go for $140-$150. (The NUX Mighty Plug Pro MP-3 falls into this category and pricing.) So a $32 sale-price Valeton isn't going to quite compare, but at that price, for me at any rate, it's worth it.

For decent sound, you'll probably have to look for a used Raven Labs PHB-1 headphone amp.

Or a used Grace Design! JK, not portable in the least. But only sort of, I use one for my IEMs and it sounds stunningly good with no lack of headroom ever.

It says 20% off for the items I listed so maybe they reduced their price to match Amazon's temporary 20% drop.

But Amazon ships faster, easy returns are guaranteed, and you get an extra 5% credit if you use the Prime VISA card. Given all that I might tilt towards eBay if the price were at least an additional 10% lower….

... and for a bit less Amazon has a 6-pack of 6-inch MXR patch cables for $10 (a whopping $2 off, but I'll probably end up buying it).

I clicked on yer link, it's a 3 pack?

Me, I never had a 6-pack but carried a pony-keg until I lost the weight ...
