Hello! I have not posted very much on Talkbass but I am always reading... I thought now would be a good time to become more involved in this excellent community!
I wanted to introduce myself and share some of my musical endeavors with all of you. My name is Willem, I have a degree in music from StFX University and I currently live and play bass in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

I am hugely influenced by Coltrane and Chambers, but, as you can see, I also pay a lot of attention to the Canadian jazz scene! The first tune that's on there is a bop head by Canadian composer / pianist / vibraphonist / bassist Don Thompson. I transcribed it in my fourth year after hearing Don's quartet, and it has become a staple in my repertoire.
