Some strange Warwicks=)

and when the blackness will worn off?
and maybe it affects the sound or wood will not breath os so..
For me it is like covering the car into the Carbon-look tape=))
If there’s lacquer, wax or some other kind of sealer over the black, it shouldn’t wear off anytime in the next several years.
As for the wood “breathing,” that’s a very controversial thing. I’m of the opinion that a solid body instrument has no need to breathe and that since instruments have been painted, lacquered and sealed for decades now with no issues proves the point.

Anyway, I’m all for that black one (#3) and if it ever ends up on North American shores, I’ll be the first in line to snag it. It’s a real beauty!:drool:

All true. Just for some reason, I would expect a bolt-on Ovangkol neck to be bolted onto an Ovangkol body.

I have not seen a Bubinga Thumb body with an Ovangkol neck before...but that doesn't necessarily mean they never built any. ;)
Pretty common, here’s mine

Hi my dudes,
Let me show you some of my founds on the Ebay,
what do you think? Worth buying?
1. Warwick GPS Thumb BO 5 Bass Gitarre - what is Warwick GPS? I know for sure, that Thumb series are still made only in Germany. What is the difference between GPs and a "normal" Thumb?
2. Warwick Thumb Bass mit Bartolini Pickups - Thumb with the serial number of Corvette? What can be wrong here?
3. Warwick Thumb 4 Bass bolt on - thumb was painted in black (crazy, i'd kill for this).. Mek instead of Bartolinis.. What is Noll electronic?

your opinions ais extremely appreciated!!

Have a nice week, my dudes!
Noll is a German preamp maker.

I have their 4-band in my Maruszczyk Frog and love it, VERY versatile pre.

By the way, Warwick questions, are probably better posted in the Official Warwick Club

Another +1 on Noll electronics. Very quiet/clean pre-amps in general, and depending on which one is in there: also quite flexible. I'd take Noll electronics over MEC/Stock-Warwick (or EMG) any day.

About the other basses: elephant in the room is that #1 is 5-string, others are 4, so which you want/don't depends on how many strings you're after. I'd take the 5, because - it's a 5, and I'd really miss the low-B on a 4.

Second perhaps obvious question: you have tried the thumbs in person, and confirmed that the ergonomics work for you, right? I love the look/shape & sound of the Thumbs, but I found it difficult to play comfortably (as do many others). Some specimens are very prone to neck-dive, and some players find the short upper horn puts the neck very far 'to the left'. Equally - many players find this isn't an issue. YMMV

Man, the seller refers to it:
"The serial number refers to a Corvette, possibly there is a data error or the neck was once renewed"

Those two nuts are different because they're from different 'generations' of bass, rather than model. Pre-1996/7 (sometimes called mk1) Warwicks had those individually adjustable brass nuts. Some Mk2 had that plastic, though perhaps only on the Korean/overseas models (these sometimes like to break - but mine's been fine), and then there's the brass (like @Barticus posted); I can't recall whether these came in parallel with the Mk2 plastic one, or whether they came striclty later (i.e. Mk3). I'm sure someone who knows more about Warwicks will chime in & correct me :)

So: a Mk2 thumb, I think, might have a plastic nut, just like your top photo.

Noll are a German preamp manufacturer. I have one of their preamps in my SKC Bogart Blackstone.

Bass Electronics / noll electronic (noll-electronic.de)

I would go with Bass #1 personally. Mostly because it's a 5 string and 5 String Warwicks are excellent IMO. I also like the pickup placement on the Thumb 5's vs. the Thumb 4's.

What type of music do you plan to play? Is any of it covers? If so will any of it require a 5 string?

The 5ers will have tighter string spacing 16.5mm on the standard Warwick 5's. I personally prefer this but it can make slapping more difficult.

A 4 string may feel more at home if you are used to wider string spacing.
i have a 7-string guitar at home so maybe, but nit sure, that i really will need 5 strings bass..
so GPS doesn't bother u?

I would buy #1
thanks=)

You are overthinking this. The bass will not sound different, and the wood will be fine. If the black wears off over time, it's a sign that it's been played.

Every bass tells a story. If it collects wear and tear being played by you, it will tell your story. :)

Now only thé masterbuild have brass nut thé GPS line has someking of teflon nut. I own two GPS thumb from 2016 and both have that black nut
ok, thanks man
is the quality good thouogh?

I understand.. I've asked the seller, how exactly was it painted. maybe just with the paint spray=)
was it desassembled, was the connection between body and neck painted as well?.. I really think it is important=)
