Before some punk buys it and wrecks it.... The GC in Arlington Heights, Il. has a 1971 EB0 listed, with the standard EB0 description. And priced as such. Look at the picture...If that's really it, it appears to be an early EB4L!!! I already have one and would already have bought it if I could swing it right now. http://www.guitarcenter.com/In-Stor...IBSON-EBO-BRN-NC-109079327-i3192839.gc?csrf=1
"We're sorry, but the product that you are searching for is sold out at this time" Uh oh.... looks like the punks got there first!
well maybe it's more than you can handle? never seen one until a couple weeks ago when I saw these guys. now I want one. $800.00 for a rare vintage Gibby c'mon
It's still for sale. Go for it. People get all dazzled by "vintage' and forget that those EB-4L's weren't great basses. In fact, they were the opposite of great.
It appears to be sold. Keeps saying its not available.... With the 2 bolt bridge, makes it a 72 or early 73. They only delivered I think 12 in 72. And I believe 2 were Walnut, and maybe 1 black. Mine is thought to be #4.
Not all of them, just a large number of them. Ask around, most with experience will tell you the same thing. The problem with post-'72 Fenders was poor quality control. The problem with the EB-4 was the crappy pickup and half-assed thought that went into the design. There's a reason there aren't many of these around. It's because people didn't want them. And there' a reason they didn't want them...
Well I can side with you on a couple things though.... The bridge is/was horrible...although it lasted fairly well until last year. Hipshot now. I cant remember what it originally sounded like...I've had a Model 1 on it since "74 ish. But the bass build quality is really really good. And it plays very nicely. I enjoy mine very much.
The woodworking on Gibson basses has always been good. I've never held a Gibson bass that felt "cheap". My complaints are mainly about the hardware/electronics.
