Someone save me from breaking something

I bought the Behringer Xenyx Q502 mixer. I have a GK 700RB ii amp. I am plugging my bass into the 1/4" input jack on amp. I have an XLR cable goin from my DI out on amp into the XLR in Mic jack on my Behringer mixer. No sound at all from my bass. I have my headphones plugged into the Phones jack on the mixer. I have a 1/8" to RCA going from PC sound card to RCA input jacks on mixer. I get PC sounds through headphones. NAda with bass.

I tried plugging into the FX Send 1/4" on amp, then FX return 1/4" to the 1/4" line in on mixer and no sound from bass still.

Help. Before it all gets broken.

How is your gain structure set? What's the Level control on the amp's DI set to? What's the gain on your channel strip set to? Make sure phantom power on the mixer is OFF. You sure the mute button on your head is off?

So we've ruled out the headphones and the mixer's headphone amp. It could be the bass, instrument cable, the head, the DI output on your amp, the XLR cable b/w amp DI and mixer, a bad channel on the mixing board, or operator error (no offense). Isolate and test parts of your chain, so you can find which bits are known-good and which are suspect.

Also, make sure you've brought up the mixer's channel gain and channel level, as well as the phones and main mix levels. As post #2 suggests, make sure the GK's mute button is off.
