Sorry, I just always saw the link to their site on Bad Link Removed and put two and two together, guess I was getting three.


So, I decided to click on the link, I listened to some of their stuff and they definetly are punk, ska, whatever, but it says that they are out of University Place, WA so we may be thinking of two different bands???

You definatly are. I'm friends with Catch 22. I live in Easton, Pennsylvania. The majority of the people in the band live in Phillipsburg, New Jersey.

And yes, Catch 22's ska/punk. But very VERY good with their bass riffs.

Yeah stinky634 I guess I didn't say any Primus songs because I felt bass_giant was looking for simpler stuff for some reason (though he didn't say that). 'Bob' is another good fretless Primus song.

More difficult stuff (not neccessarily meaning harder than jaco. meaning other stuff that'd be difficult to play than jaco) would be Catch 22. Get the album "Keasbey Nights".

You should listen to some Piano-only tracks by Kate Bush or Tori Amos...just follow the chord changes on the fretless and add some little thingies.

I would recommend "The man with the Child in his eyes", by Kate Bush. (not related to that American hobby-guy that some people refer to as a real president)

I'm still learning to play fretless as well, but it's quite hard to endeavour in trying.

Well, it bears mentioning again. There is no limit to how many times Jaco can be mentioned.

Check out Weather Report's Heavy Weather. Some smokin' fretless stuff by Jaco on that album.

And of course his eponymous debut.
