I am a songwriter and most of my songs I've noticed all share the radio friendly verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-chorus structure we all are so familiar to hearing and while I admit that's really good and all I'm sick of it.

Help a fellow song writer out and list the different formats you use or have used or even just know of.

I am in a rut and this is affecting me mentaly I know I'm better than this I also recently just got into a cool band called Emery and their songs are everything I want mine to be. Unpredictable (Structure wise and musically refer to "From Crib to Coffin"), relatable, hummable, and thought provoking.

I agree and disagree.

This is how I write a song 80% of the time

I'll usually write a chorus or at the very least a witty line or two

Leave it sitting either overnight or for a number of weeks, months, or sometimes I've found stuff I've written in HS that I haven't used yet

Finally I'll feel bored or my insomnia is in full swing and I'll grab a pen and paper then I'll grab a peice of paper with a couple lines written on it and use it as a starting point for my song

However I'll almost always (emphasis on the ALMOST) use Verse-Chorus-Verse-Bridge-Chorus

So that's why I want to know everyones song structures I'll be able to refrence them when writing my own song to see if the song I'm writing will better be written in either the Radio format I use or another one.

Throughcomposed
Just the melody with the words (the instruments improvise their own parts or moods around it; or as voice solo)
Start with a long guitar solo, or end with a long guitar solo

all of this of course when it seems to make sense for the story the song is telling. Or:what happens when you let the song (what the song says, the mood it expresses, the way an actor would perform the story...) decide the form.

Here's a few different ones we use (Keep in mind we're a metal band, so consider the formats dynamically)
Intro, Verse, Chorus, Verse, Chorus, Solo, Outro
Intro, Chorus, Verse, Chorus, Breakdown, Bridge, Chorus
Intro, Verse, Chorus, Breakdown, Bridge, Chorus, Bridge #2, Breakdown
Verse, Pre-Chorus, Chorus, Verse, Pre-chorus, Chorus, Breakdown, Chorus
Intro, Verse, Chorus, Verse #2, Chorus, Breakdown, Bridge, Breakdown #2
