Songs for a dance band

I have a drummer-friend who insists that if all your band ever played was the 20 tunes from Rhino Records' Invalid Link Removed disc, your band would never stop working.

This is close to 80 minutes of music...you could just play half as a set, then the other half as your 2nd, then repeat the favorites for the third set...
 
Just look for the lists of songs that the music snobs refuse to play. I have yet to play Mustang Sally, Honky Tonk Woman, Satisfaction, Play That Funky Music, Brown Eyed Girl when people didn’t flock to the dance floor. But play them right, not some half fast version.

There are plenty of “most requested” lists you can google. Look at the top 10 lists for every year. Go see other bands, see what works.
