Groove is in the heart!!!
so i just got my wilson wah few days ago. as i've said before, this is my first wah and i'm still in the process of learning how to use it. so to all the guys here who has some experience with the wah, please suggest me some good songs that uses the wah. any song will do, any style, old or new, as long as its with a bass lines using the wah.

thanks a lot in advance!

Alot of Rage Against the Machine uses wah at certain points, most notably "Calm Like a Bomb" which uses the wah to create the main riff sound. Check out some of the live youtube takes for the most extreme wahs. Also Pantera's Rex Brown uses wah every now and then, at least I've heard it on the albums, dont remember which songs.

Songs with wah on bass, that I remember:

  • Rage Against The Machine - Calm Like A Bomb (as mencioned before)
  • Rage Against The Machine - Mic Check
  • Rage Against The Machine - War Within a Breath
  • Pantera - I'll Cast A Shadow
  • Metallica - Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth)
  • Metallica - Call Of The Ktulu
  • Metallica - Orion
  • Metallica - For Whom The Bells Tolls
  • Tool - The Pot

There's also a few songs from Audioslave that have wah on bass but I don't remember which songs are.

Every Metallica song after 1986. I think that Cliff Burton had a "NO GUITAR WAH" rule, and when he foolishly died (leaving the band free to also ignore his "NO SELLING OUT" rule) Kirk Hammet gave in to the urge to go wah crazy.

:hiding:

Please don't kill me.

But seriously, as far as bass wah it's tough to get good low frequency tone out of a wah pedal and I don't know of any good songs that accomplish this.

An Audioslave song that uses wah: "Cochise." My favorite Audioslave song, incidentally.

I know Flea uses one a lot. "The Power of Equality," "Coffee Shop," and some other RHCP songs that I can't remember.

Old school: Weather Report's [pre-Jaco!] album 'Mysterious Traveler'; song is 'Cucumber Slumber'--which every one of you should listen to anyway for its killer sliding groove lick in E, plus the super-funky stuff in C#, which goes to wah pedal maybe halfway thru the tune.

Don't even think you be funky if you ain't heard this.
