Sonic Amplifiers?

Played a Sonic 215 cab for many years. Heavy as hell ( mdf ), but sounded great. Don't think they make a 215 anymore.

I had one yrs ago (410) paid like 150 for it used.

Brought it into GC to trade toward something later on...The guy wanted to know if the speakers were original...We opened it up..and they offered me $175 !! wow... thats from GC.So it must have been an ok cab.

Sounded good to me.

But I trade my stuff every 6 mos anyway.. ;) .... ;(

I was working at a store when Sonic first came out. I can't speak intelligently about anything new they make, but the older stuff was *crap*. Cheap pressboard cabs, cheap drivers - but inexpensive so we sold a ton. Funny I should see this thread - I just saw a Sonic 8x10 SVT clone in pawn shop here in SD going for... $299?? - - that should tell you something.

Sonic seems to use OSB for their boxes (plywood for the baffle) and Eminence speakers. If there's an "SCF" suffic at the end of the model number, then the speakers were cast-frame Eminence. My Sonic 2x10 has them and it's a great sounding cabinet.

I love my sonic 2x10 cab. It's the only cab that has survived all my GAS induced selling/trading. It keeps up with all genres except for loud rock/metal stuff. It's ported on the back, not the front like the ones on the sonic website. It sounds great, with smooth mids and can go pretty low but will fart if you push it too hard. I'm still surprised how much this cab has taken a beating and still sounds and works great. I bought it from some guy on craigslist for $75 a few years ago.

It's a cutie too....

At least for part of their time in the market Sonic had some fairly upscale boxes too, with better plywoods and premium drivers. It's not like the better-known competition always had that driver quality either, or any more sophisticated on the enclosure front.

I think OP is referring to an entirely different operation however, one that is maybe found on eBay and is another one of those rather tough to pin down Chinese operations that makes amplifiers with few specs available... He's probably not too interested in a lot of faulty recollections on an enclosure company ; }

I met my wife at a sonic she was a car hop, she would give me free food. That was 30yrs ago Last year for my birthday she bought me a mint used Fender USA PBass. Now she's a nurse. I still go to the sonic sometimes but never played a Sonic cab, but I have seen them in pawn shops.

Well, they may have improved their product - The logo on your cab looks a bit different than the one's I've seen. Back when I was pimping then, they sure didn't have Eminence drivers!
