Don't be, the tone in the video is a little more growly and modern than I associate with the typical J bass sound, especially the slap playing. Who knows if pickups are stock, what the pre is, what processing it's got on it. Still a great performance, I enjoyed it.

My guess its a Fender Elite V or an older Deluxe V. New or newish rounds. This guy knows how to play with new rounds where taming zing is part of the learning curve in his technique. Great player, thanks for posting

Honestly only in the last few years have Fender Vs been that good. B strings on older ones always seemed weak, but all the American 5 strings I've tried in the last few years have had great B strings. Not sure what they are doing different.
