Hey guys - I usually hang out on the Electric side of the site, but wanted to share.
LR Baggs has a demo of their Soundscape set up on display at NAMM. I was VERY impressed with it on the acoustic guitar. It basically uses a combo of a cell phone (for mic and processor) a preamp and a pickup to create a low-budget IR.
Basically the processor 'listens' to the pickup sound, compares it to the upright mic'd sound, and tweaks the EQ/compression to match. It also uses the tech to minimize feedback.

I asked about an upright bass setup, they said it's a ways off, but in the works

It looks like a very similar concept. Where I think the Soundscape wins is that when it uses the phone as a mic and processor source, the mic is a known value and it's much more automated.
Also using the phone as the programming source, you have a lot more parameters to work with vs a few knobs and pre-sets
