Soundwave '09

Blizzard, thank you. I'm SO DAMN HAPPY TO GET BACK DOWN TO OZ!!

To answer your question: no comment. :hiding:

Icaruss: Yeah, I'm not blown away by the lineup myself. I like Minus The Bear and The Subways. Most of the other bands are unknown by me, or just not my style. We have done festival slots in the US with this stage show: V Festival in Baltimore, and Lollapalooza in Chicago. I haven't a clue about Australia in terms of the production...it's far too early to say. I might not even know until January. The logistics and finances concerning this kind of thing are deeply complex and take a great deal of time to plan. If the level of our production is the dividing line for you as to whether or not you are going to the gig, I can't really say anything about that except that there will be SOME sort of cool production, and our show will melt your face off regardless. Up to you. ;)

Thanks for the reply, I thought that might be the case.

I'm with Icaruss and you, I'm not blown away by the lineup either (though I must say its a darned sight better the The Big Day Out '09). Of the lineup Billy Talent is the only other band I really am a fan of and I saw them when they were last here (they put on a pretty good show). Having said that, there a few bands I wouldn't mind seeing and then there is lots of bands I've never heard/heard of.

To Blizzard - I'd go to Big Day out 09 for TV on The Radio alone!

To jmj - Production is definately not a problem! I love NIN and your bass playing so I'd go if you were playing behind a black curtain for sound alone! Just wondering, just interested me how such a monster stage show would fit the hectic festival format.

Having said that I wasn't a huge of the lineup otherwise, I must profess I have a guilty pleasure for one In Flames song, cos my Gf has a bit a secret metal fetish :P

In Flames - Only For The Weak

Listen to the glory of the cheesy synth! Super happy metal :P

TV on The Radio is probably one of the bands I would see if I did go to the BDO, (though I wouldn't be actually going to see them, if you get what I mean). I've quite liked what I've heard of their new album on the radio and one of my friends is really into them but I am really sick of Wolf Like Me... I went to party once where that got put on repeat for a few hours.

JMJ, out of interest what do bands tend to do about gear down under? Do you ship it all here or do you just take your instruments and get hire a backline over here? I've always been curious especially with the different voltages, not to mention the distance.

We ship most everything, because our sounds are heavily designed and dependent upon our rigs. I've been down there several times in the past, and only once did I borrow backline SVT cabs. Otherwise, everything seems to get shipped. It's different...if you take a band like my friends BRMC, they will ship heads, guitars, and pedalboards, and effect racks, but not ship certain drums and cabs.
