Source Audio C4 Dead on Arrival?

That reply is concerning... I'm on a 2018 MacBook Pro, maxed out specs for the year/model, running Catalina. No reason from a hardware-perspective this should be happening. The Windows laptop is a little older, but running the latest Windows 10 and plenty of horsepower. Also the way this performance degradation manifests- slowly while using the app getting worse and worse over time, looks much more like a memory leak in the software (either the Editor or the pedal itself) rather than "computer is old." I'll definitely be pressing the issue with SA if I get the same response.

To be fair, they specified that my OS was old. I'm on OSX 10.10.5. But since you are having the same exact issue, there might be a different reason?

Paging @Gibs210 or @NPappas

Played around some more this morning on both laptops and seeing inconsistent results. I'll start to do more testing in a structured way over the next few days to eliminate variables and hopefully figure out root-cause. Will keep this thread posted.
(BTW I'm in contact with Source Audio support, they've been great so far!)

FWIW I was just on for about an hour and on my rig the performance seem OK. Latest, version of Neuro Editor. Updates to EQ2 and C4 firmware. Mostly doing minor adjustments to patches. Mac OS High Sierra 8 gb.

Maybe someone doing more intensive editing would have experienced something I did not.

Same problem with the footwitch but it's for an Aftershock Effect. It arrived today and it's also dead on arrival : same symptoms as the problem from the OP. There is no "click" from the swootswith and the pedal is "silent" even thugh the small led and the "on" led blink during 1-2seconds when it's powered and then they go black...
I contacted the seller for a direct return and a direct swap (wwwm.musicstore.com from Germany). I hope I will get a new one quickly...

Have you tried a factory reset?

Thank you for the quick reaction :-)

just tried : no luck
- firmware is up to date (checked with neuro hub)
- reset : no luck
Footswitch feels like as a temporary switch : there is no "click" and nothing happens when pushed (even when I keep it down)
I presume it's a mechanical fault and nothing electronic as the communication with the pc softaware and the iphone app are OK...

Sounds like it, easiest to try and exchange with where you bought it from since your in Germany, otherwise let us know if you have any trouble.

I have the exact same issue as both if you guys. In my case it's a current model iMac. Aftershock works just fine. I have done what has been suggested over in the main thread but to no avail. The best method I have found to get the pedal working is by doing a factory reset on the pedal itself but then it's a race against the clock again...

I just bought one used (mint) on Reverb. It arrived today. Original box, packaging, adapter, phone cable and instruction card. Same issue. Only a clean/dry sound with no effect or preset sounds. Green bypass light comes on only when SA adapter is first plugged in. The smaller light blinks for a second when I push the control input button on the top. Nothing happens when I push the MAIN switch. It doesn't feel completely off but might be suspect. I was able to create an account with SA and download both the Desktop and Phone NEURO apps. The pedal did connect to my desktop easily and I was able to update the firmware to the current version 1.18. But this did nothing that I can tell. I'm not sure if there something turned off in the software or if it's a more serious issue. Bummed. I was really looking forward to it. I was a little worried this pedal might have issues because of the sophistication. I contacted the previous owner and he is puzzled as well. He did say he had it connected to a PC before and I am using a Mac. But the issue was there before I ever plugged it up to my computer. I will contact SA tomorrow. I wanted to buy new from SA but they were/are currently sold out. Hopefully it can be fixed affordably.

Did you try a factory reset?

I just did. I did exactly what the user guide suggested, both the manual reset technique and desktop reset using USB cable. The desktop reset said it was "successful" but unfortunately it didn't change anything.

Since it was used and arrived unworking I would just return it.

We are very cooperative when it comes to fixing pedals. Used or not.

I do plan to give SA a call tomorrow to see about getting some help fixing it.

On a side note, I just saw that SA is in Woburn. Not sure if you know of Mike Boyle's Strength and Conditioning but his very popular gym is there and he's a friend. He's a World Renowned sports fitness coach. I visited a few years back. Anywho, small world!

So I did end up calling (and emailing) Source Audio last week. I told them I bought this used C4 Synth pedal from someone on Reverb. (btw... I was in constant contact with the Reverb seller/original owner. He said it worked when he shipped it. I do believe he thought it did...even though it definitely did not because the switch was completely dead. However he did offer to let me return it but i told the gentlemen I'd try Source Audio first to see if they could repair it.) Anyway, Source Audio emailed back the same day. The head contact person thought it sounded like the problem was a bad switch. He offered to pay for shipping, which meant all I had to do was print out the label at home and stick it on the box to be mailed. He also offered to fix it for free AND pay to ship it back to me. So nice of them! It took less than a week and everything is fixed and I've played it all weekend. I works great. It's a great pedal. I highly recommend downloading the software and checking out the many user presets. I've already saved a bunch on the pedal. You can only access 6 at any one time with JUST the pedal alone but for me, that's plenty. I replaced the original 6 presets with a few others that I liked and will continue to tweak from there. Overall, my experience has been great. The people at Source Audio have my total respect. They seem to really care about their product.
