I need some help. I am having a hard time getting my head wrapped around some midi capabilities.

I have the MWBD, BEF Pro, Dimension reverb and the Dual EXP pedal. I am looking to add the Orbital.
I want to be able to hit one pedal and sent midi program changes to all the pedals. But, I have noticed that the pedals ( except the Dimension and Orbital ) have midi in only.

Any advice?

yep. I've been using the quad thru on my pro pedals for a long time. Hopefully the new midi adapter will eliminate the need for it if you have all SA pedals. It has been mentioned that even the 'sensor in/out" on the pro series will pass thru midi chain. Not sure if firmware update is needed, but I bet the do.

yes. you will need a midi controller...but the Line 6 m-series actually sends program changes. But only on one channel. I don't know the midi assigments of the SB2 pedals, but they may end up being re-assignable.

But regardless, if you want to control all the pedals you mention and have them on/off in scenes, you will need a midi controller. I really like tge Behringer FCB-1010. I know, the "B" word, but it's a solid, capable controller that can control up to 5 midi channels and it has 2 expression pedals.

Now you got me thinking!
Hmmm.. I have a Line 6 M5. This could be a start. But I guess I still won't able to control the program changes on the Dimension and Orbital ( no midi in)

not until the midi adapter comes out.

So the line6 stuff works on channel 1, then it sends a program change matching the preset you select on the M5. The BEF Pro has re-assignable presets, but the Classic Pro and MWBD Pro do not because of preset morphing (my guess).

That said, the M5 is not the easiest device to navigate IMO. You can find lots of midi controllers out thee for cheap. But make sure it does more than just 1 midi channel for max control.

I think a M9 or M13 and a BEF Pro would be a cool setup

Seriously this is awesome, I need to look into using my M9 to control my BEF. :hyper:

I am looking into the FCB-1010 but have a chance at a cheap Boss PK-5a. Have you ever had a chance to compare these two, or have any thoughts on the matter? The Boss looks better made, but I think it can only send one message at a time. :hmm:

Isn't that like organ pedals? The FCB-1010 does alot and after you figure it out, it's easy to program. The Roland/boss version doesn't seem to have as may foot switches. so less direct access. And it can do program changes or CC and even note on stuff. Like it can control a lighting board while switching pedals and you can pipe more midi thru. for the $50 I spent on it I'm more than happy. Now just waiting to insert SB2 pedals in the chain ;)

The FCB-1010 is big and limited in terms of how many messages you can send at once. That said, to change presets, use expression pedal functions and do some simple "one touch changes" via CC it is all you need and it's also very inexpensive and resistant. Yesterday I found a huge dent on mine and I have no idea how it happened because nothing stopped working or behaved strangely and believe me, I'm not gentle with it.

It depends on how your ears define 'wet'. There are a few settings you could mess with to get there though.

1. Crank the MIX all the way over to the normal Wet setting and then compensating some extra low end on the EQ.

2. Slow down the attack on the SPEED knob a bit to see if that gives it the juicy sound you're looking for.

3. The 'wettest' effects IMO on the center wheel are #00, #06, and #14

Gated Fuzz in place of clean boost works for me. Other than that looks like a Classic Pro in a nice compact case, voiced for bass and easier access to blend control.
