Spam from commercial users?

How does the scam work? They sign up as commercial users to post their nonsense. Doesn't the commercial membership cost money? I always report these threads and they get taken down quickly, but I'm curious why they're often from a commercial member.

That red commercial user tag simply means that the spam robot checked the "commercial user?" box on the registration form.

Oh I thought they had to pay for that. It's still odd that they're clicking that box then.

If I had to bet most robots probably check all checkboxes, programmed to assume they're agreeing with TOS or Privacy Policies.
