Double Bass speak on adapters

I have just purchased a new EA IAMP micro which has 2 Speak On outlets. I also have an old SWR Blonde on Blonde which will function as a speaker only (the amp part of it isn't working). I would like to use the SWR as an extra speaker. Does anyone know if it's ok to use an adapter (Speakon to quarter inch) and run the SWR as an extra speaker?

An adapter cable (speakon to 1/4") will work, but is not ideal for long term use. The typical "micro" head has a bridged output, i.e., both terminals of the speaker cable carry "live" signal, and neither is a "ground" terminal. Thus, at the other end, the metal sleeve and shell of the 1/4" plug will not be grounded, but will carry live signal, and must be kept from touching any other conductor. If the metal sleeve touches something grounded, it will short out the power amp and possibly the power supply circuit of the amp. I'm not sure if it's a dangerous voltage or not, but I'd rather play it safe.

The Speakon shrouds both conductors, making it the preferred connector for these little amps.

It's got a big flange, making it easy to install in an existing speaker.
