2-12's, and a 1000 watts gives me all the headroom I need in case guitar players want to play the volume game... seldom need to though, as I play with musicians who understand the meaning of dynamics!

I usually run one 15 and my guitarist runs two 12s, but he just switched to one 12. Plus, on bigger gigs I run two 15s, mwhahaha!

I always run 2 1x15's.. for practice, for shows.. regardless of size. and My 500w keep up just fine with my guitarists Marshall JVM410H 4x12 half stacks.

I love the sound/tone from my 2 15's and run them all the time

Yeah, I'm generally at least 100% more than guitar players.
I'd rather carry more gear, and use it lightly, than carry less gear and over-work it.

i have more speaker cone area than both of my band's guitarists put together. they each play thru a 1x12 (a boogie and a fender) and i play thru a 2x15 (Faital 15PR400's), or my 4x12 V4 cab (loaded with 2512's).

I use 2, 210's vs 2 guitars, each with 412's - doesnt seem to matter, I keep up just fine

less ,I play a 4x10 or a 6x10 and my guitarists have a 4x12 each... but I have at least double the watts they have... 400w or 600w vs 100w each...

It's ok most of the time depending on the PA support !!

Depends.

I usually have my 3x8 (150.72 SqIn)
or my 1x15 (176.625 SqIn)

My guitarist...I play with many, but usually they have nothing (0 SqIn) (i.e. acoustic going straight into the PA or they have a 2x12 (226.08 SqIn).

So, both.

Guitarist plays through a 4x12 and I use a 2x12. I've never had a problem keeping up.

Don't stop at area when volume displacement and SPL are what matter. That said, I have 2 12's to my guitarist 4 and never get buried. We know what volume knobs are for.

What he said! And though most posting in this thread likely already know, Volume Displacement = Cone Surface Area x Xmax.

I've had times where I've had less speaker than the guitarist, but we're not a high volume band. But more often than not, I have grossly more than he does, although I was quite surprised to get a call for a classic hard rock gig recently, and the guitarist brought in two 412's to do a 200 seat room. OK, so I brought an SVT and 810, but he still outclassed me for speaker area

I have a 2x12, the lead guitar has a 4x12.

I don't see the point in having more speaker area since the stage volume is already a bit too loud. If I really need more volume I could go through the PA.
