Speaker cords

I have a Yamaha EMX512SC powered mixer. It has two 500 watt power amps. I have two Yamaha S115V 2-way 15" speakers.

What gauge speaker wire should I use? They will be 25 to 30 feet long. Is there really an advantage to using premade cords (some which are expensive) rather than making them from zip cord?

Thanks!

By the way, this amp is meant to be used with 2 mains and 2 monitors, hence the 2 power amps. So you probably are going to want a couple more speakers and a couple more cables. Personally, I believe there absolutely is a difference in cables. I wouldn't even use the ones in that link I provided. If you're going to make your own, use good cable and good jacks. Not zip cord.

It can be used with one amp for the mains and the other for the monitors. Or, there's a switch that sends all the power to a the mains; one amp for each side. There's also a line out, which I've used for powered monitors.
