Speaker Fly Hardware

I have speakers that have Fly mounts. I am looking for eye bolts that are 8mm with a 1.25 thread and about 100mm long. Does anyone know where I can get these for less than $7 each??

I am never one to just spend a ton of money on stuff. I make my speaker cables generally from electrical cables. Same cable, 1/8th the price, so cheap is what I am looking for.

I wouldn't cheap out on stuff that you're going to fly over peoples heads. Dig a little deeper and get proper hardware.

I too like to make all my own cables/snakes etc to save on costs.

Having said that, flying a cabinet is one area where I would not cut corners. Eye bolts can be bought cheaply but they are likely to be cast and prone to crack, break altogether, or the threads strip. The more expensive version will be machined steel and far more robust.

I am actually not going to use the bolts to fly my speakers... A little more depth..
I have Molded cabinet (Seismic Audio) 12" cabinets. I will be putting them on stands. I need to use the eyebolts to hook up ratchet straps to hold them down to stakes to make them more secure on the stands in a public environment. So I am only using the eyebolts for tie downs and not to fly them.

Since you're still intending to use them to increase public safety, I would get the good stuff.

Here's one reason why: more often than not, its extremely hard to find out who manufactured the cheap stuff. If, during a reggae show, the eye-bolt breaks, and the low end causes the cab to walk off the stand, crushing someones foot (or, God forbid, a BABY!), you have no recourse as to the manufacturer liability.

With the ggood stuff, you know who to go to. I know this is all one-in-a-million stuff, but you don't want to be the "one".

My employer makes all staff go to rigging ans safety seminars every two years. After 20 years of this, its drilled into my brain...

you could use eye-nuts with a standard metric bolt, that would likely work also, might be a little cheaper.

I looked at the Eyenuts and that would bring the price down to $5 each, but I would still have to find a stud of some sort as well. I think what I am going to do is get a piece of metal strap, form a loop and use a 15mm or 20mm bolt to lock it down and hook the rachet strap to the loop. It was a plan B and I would still like to find eyebolts, but I think Plan B is how it is going to have to be until I find something more appropriate.
