Speakon cable for bridged power amp

Is it possible to do something nasty? Like frying the amp or the cab if you don't move the right wire to the right connector?

It depends, yes if the speaker cabinet parallels 1+ with 2+ and 1- with 2- it could damage the amp. The industry standard discourages such connections, BUT there are some builders who feel the need to reinvent the wheel without understanding how the wheel works in the first place.

Bridged Mono Adapter NL4FX to NL4MX 12/2 6 inch

Wired 1+, 2+ at the amp end (Red) and 1+,1- at the speaker end (Blue).
-The red end goes to the bridged output of the amp.
-A regular speakON is plugged into the blue end.

That's an excellent suggestion there if you aren't comfortable making your own also because you don't want to mix up bridge wired connectors.

I did make my own and clearly marked them with a sharpie.

Wow! Interesting...I guess I got lucky, or either the Crest Prolite 2.0 I had several years ago, that I bridged into my F112, or 12/6 , was not designed this way... I had a Speakon on hand and just plugged everything up and everything worked as it should have... for many sessions..

@agedhorse ... is it possible that the Crest is wired/designed differently than the Crown , allowing for the experience I had with it?

Yes, the ProLite is wired differently in that it has a dedicated bridge SpeakOn output that is wired 1+/1- to get around the special cable.

So, I ordered a brand new speakon cable and the proper 4 pole connector. The cable has two wires, one black, one white. How do I know which is +/-? It's not labeled in any way. Thanks in advance!

You have to open and inspect the connectors so see how the wires are connected.

My earlier assumption that these are both on 1 may be wrong. Perhaps 1- (black), 2+ (white)

Agreed, assuming this is the bridging plug.
