Im going to add 2 speakon connectors to a 4x10 cab for daisy chaining & need to know if i could "wrap" the + & + & then solder it in parallel to the 1/4" + ? Of course i would then wrap - & - together & solder that to the 1/4" - .
Its about " wrapping " the leads together is it o.k to do this ?
Would all 3 inputs now be in parallel ?

If you connect the +1 from one speakon to the+1 on the other one and then to the tip of the 1/4", and the two -1s to the shield of the 1/4", then yes all three will be in parallel. I presume that is what was meant by "wrapping" the wires together. Keep in mind the warning about impedance if you paralell 3 cabs, as it will likely be quite low depending on the cabs.

Please limit yourself to two Speakons in parallel. Remember those quick connect terminal ends I addressed in another thread? If the crimping section is of adequate size, you can insert two conductors comfortably, crimp, and run the second "spur" line to the adjacent Speakon. No soldering, no fussin'.

Edit: If you're going thru all this trouble, do yourself a favor and ditch the 1/4" input jack

I just found out after ringing this tech again that he is going to do the work for the same price as me buying everything myself so basically only charge for the parts.
And Yes Zooberwerx im going to ditch the 1/4" inputs, i actaully dont use them thats why i am upgrading to speakon.
BTW -Popgadget im not using 3 cabinets il be using 4 & all are 8ohms (3 inputs on 1 cabinet) so i can daisy them.
The poweramp has speakon left & right stereo output but only one for each channel so i will be using 4-8ohm cabs, the amp should see 4ohms a side with ample power.
I know about the impendence & only be using it in stereo or parallel mode for now till i get the proper cable made up for bridge mode.

...and what cabinet combination will you be using in bridge mode? That's a whole new ballgame. As mentioned, you should be okay w/ two 8 ohm cabs (daisy-chained) per amp channel in stereo / parallel mode.

Yeah what amp, what cabs? Some power amps are 4 ohm bridge capable. They tend to have a bit more power available than would be advisable to point at a couple of bass cabs.

I would tend to run one cab per channel rather than bridge. If it's not loud enough you are too loud.
