90 amps on #2 is well within its rating.......threading thru a binding post is an option only if the cable is smaller than the hole and no fun/time consuming in the dark recesses of gear racks.......I view reducing resistive heat as a goal. Those #2 cables you referred to wanted upsizing, to my view.
Well, the EU's banning of 1/4 speaker connectors will likely drive the market towards Speakons. & bananas are going away in favour of Speakons in Pro Sound. I've no idea about home or low-level DJ stuff.
The lowest cost option, & a very good one especially for Installs, uses the 'banana' jack which is actually a 5-way binding post. Unscrew the 'jacks', & stick a bare wire through the hole you see, & tighten it up.
Can you buy speakon connectors at a good electronics shop, or are they special-order only?
That would depend on the shop. Many do carry them.
again show me your bass rig w/ factory banana
so they were current 15 years ago.......and they're not now.......what does that say.......SWR SM400
SWR Henry the 8x8
The Nady poweramp I've been using lately has em too. So do my studio monitors
Almost any real deal power amp manufactured before about the mid 90's will have banana connectors. That's what people used.
i know the stuff i use is way too bigMost of the holes I've seen will take 14 gauge wire. & yeah it's time-consuming.
so they were current 15 years ago.......and they're not now.......what does that say.......
Jim Campbell said:they are meant for home stereo stuff and are fairly light duty.....
They don't look like combos.
like i said..... show me your banana plug equipped instrument gear.....you have mentioned 1 or 2 pieces of swr gear out of all thats out thereMy opinion? That despite being a brain dead design (You wanna use that amp in bridged mode? Hold on, let me get out a screwdriver.) Speakon connectors were very aggressively and successfully marketed.
This is of course incidental to the fact that this:
is total nonsense.
The only down side to speakon is sometimes they melt into jacks which is a real pain although for live sound they are great because they are locking.

no but the stuff i use is almost that thickJeez, I didn't think that #2 cable was for your speakers!!!![]()
