Yeah! Clips or it didn't happen
Sorry for the delay, y'all; life has been busy, and other interests have been occupying my time....
Tonight, since I had the recording gear out for another project, I decided to plug this one in for a quick demo.
But first I needed to adjust the too-high action.
And while I was at it I realized that the pickups were too far from the strings. But the screws I used to attach them were too short to raise the pickups much, so I needed to find and install some longer ones. Which meant slightly deepening the screw holes (but thankfully not so much that they pierced through the back of the nice thin body...).
It was a whole big thing.
But I did record a demo - this is into a relatively clean amp patch in Logic ("Hi Fi DI"), with no other effects. The same riff (made up on the spot) is repeated twice - the first time is with the "blend" knob rolled all the way forward, which is just the neck pickup by itself, and the second time is with the "blend" knob rolled all the way back, which is both pickups in series.
It really needs fresh strings, but that was just too much for one night....

I think this is a case where a variable mid range would be really useful. You could sweep low to bring out the more traditional bass tones, or high to accent the chimey upper octave strings. The same would be true of de-accentuating those parts of the sound (just with the gain turned the other direction
).

Are you still using Bill’s PJ wiring? Have you tried a more traditional blending approach in parallel, like VVT/VBT? Or just straight up series without caps?

Yep, that's still the Bill Lawrence wiring. Obviously, if I drop in the Audere, then that includes its own buffered blend and volume, but if I use something like an EMG BTC, then I can keep Bill's wiring.
For me, the "blend" function of Bill's circuit is kinda wasted. I will probably just use it like a switch, either all the way clockwise or all the way anti-clockwise....
