Ok I warned you guys I was bringing my problems with me. I'm going to take the Forte to a buddy of mine that has an awesome set of tools (Jeff Spicolli voice). Seriously though he's good with guitars, been wiring pups for a long long time so this will probably be short work for him.

He was familiar Witt the "coax" wires coming from the EMG's.

So is the best bet to sheath the white wire down a bit, twist the outer (ground) sheath together and just go right into the connection or should I (we) add a small section of wire (soldered and shrinked) to the sheath?

yes go straight to the connection. when you twist the braid, tin the braided piece you have and it will become solid like a wire. use that now "solid" piece of braided wire as your ground for the pickups. It should go to the pole opposite of the white wire.

On a random note... Since the Spector Coda Jazz Basses have been such a success, has Spector considered doing a Coda P-Bass? That could be cool and introduce even more people to Spector. Just a thought. :)

In reference to Part 27, thanks for the pickup height info. I'll just try some different settings and see what sounds / plays well.

The reason why I brought this up is because at least with other passives, the stronger magnetic field has a damping affect on the strings. That's why it is suggested to leave some specified distance (or more).

Mine are all about 1/4 in. or so under the strings.

I play mostly with a pick, but do everything. Imo. That's about the right height for the best tone for me. It's all personal pref. Glad to see your enjoying your rebop! There great basses there's a few tricks to make em sound and play even better, but there's nothing wrong with them out of the box either.
