SPECTOR® Club - Part 28

Had an audition last night for a semi-established band here in Vancouver. Went really well (better than I expected!)
It was just me and the vocalist/guitarist with background drums and samples. He liked it and aside from a couple of glitches on my behalf, it was pretty tight!
Jamming with the whole band on Friday and see how I mesh with the other 2 members.
Hopefully if it'll work out I'll start playing shows and tour!

Awesome man, they sound great! Will that be your second band or will you just concentrate on one if you get this gig?

Do my ears deceive me and is that track using lower tunings? I was on conference call when i listened to it (I was muted) but it sounded like they were playing lower. Do I see a 5 string in your future?

Slightly off-topic, RSB, but Brownie is just sick. That might be the best piece of Spector porn that I've seen to date!

Hey , yeah! I hadn't seen those pics before! I always thought that bass was that early trans black that looks brownish in the light ( like the early Carvin trans blk, they call it antique brown now). I really like that color! kind of like burnt honey. In great shape too for being on the road with those guys. WAY COOL!!!

I think the cool guitar/ bass thing from the 80's-90's is coming back around. You know where the bands all had some cool graphics or one off high end guitar you couldn't get. Way cool stuff!

This will most likely be my main gig. My other project I'll keep developing and working on myself and see how it progresses.

They tune low B, I had to borrow a 5 string to learn and jam with...confused the hell out of me! Haha!
For this one I'll be using my Euro 4LX-TW35 and tune it to BEAD That'll get the thunder to kick in more!
I used a Traynor bass amp and a small 212 cab which didn't sound too bad but I will be excited when I get to use my Spector with my Ampeg rig!
Hopefully in the future if I get to contribute to the song writing, I'll get to tune DADG and use my Forte and NS2!

Congrats man, they would be suckers to not get you in the band from what I have seen and heard. Can't wait to get home and check out the tune! And when they hear that Ampeg and Spector combo with the Fred Sanford look, Instant Rock Star!

Nope.
Even the Legends, that don't have graphite bars, don't seem to suffer from this, IME.

Holy sh*t!!!!!!!!! It sounded freaking amazing! It was all sorts of growly and cutting through the mix, yet warm and punchy. A friend of mine said he loved the tone, and tried to describe it as (paraphrasing here) 'it wasn't boomy or muddy, and it wasn't distorted, it just seemed it was like I could hear the outside edges of the notes' LOL!

I love this bass.
