Hey fellow clubbers. Thanks to Hurricane Sandy looks like gigs and income will be sparse for a while now. We lost many of the regular clubs that pay bands and the rest or most will not have any power till next week at the earliest, meaning of course since it just got cold here they won't be open. Stay tuned, I might need to find a new home for my brand spanning new Garry Tallent Signature Spector. It will suck if I do, but food and shelter trump the rest obviously. Was scheduled to play NYC but you can't even get in. The train was washed out as well, so no way to get in. Ugh.
In but with just one example. Things are in the works and my collection is changing is lots of different ways. The one constant is still this Euro LX 5 in matte black with a figured maple top. I just had the USA 18v put in and swapped the TWs for DCs back when I first got the bass. It sounds and feels absolutely incredible.

So sorry to hear that about the devastation there and the income you'll lose. I pray that you and your family will stay warm and have food on your table. It'll take time I know but eventually everyone will be back and running once again.
I woke up with S.A.S. this morning. First time in a long time. Usually playing my lowly NS2As fixes it. In the meantime.....

Thanks. I was a Boy Scout, so I take the motto "be prepared" seriously. I came through with minimal damage, and I already have most of it fixed (helps to be handy) so it's just the job and income. I made sure i filled up the cars and cans, got wood for the wood stove and filled up 50 gallons of water.
Lots of my friends who work at the restaurants and bars are in the same boat, basically no job. I am also lucky to have basses to sell so if I need I am sure I can make it through. I can get down to one, but that will suck as I will have to choose between rare ones that you can't find or vintage ones that I won't be able to afford again in the future. And, of course, giving up my Spector Club membership....
I've also spent time drooling over those two basses, along with the anniversary models & the satin finish bahama blue beastie at BC.
Hopefully a USA NS-2 will put an end to my SAS & GAS for good....

I have the same bass, but with the active electronics & drop-D bridge, and you are correct - its no Spector.
Its no Steinberger either.
What it is, however, is a fantastic travel bass.
Full scale, decent tone & playability, fits in an airplane overhead compartment, and it's cheap enough that if it's lost or damaged during flight, it won't be the end of the world.
The one down side to them is that the longer you play them, the more you GAS for a real Steinberger.

Only posting one since I might be selling the others. Well, I won't be selling the Rebop either but I want to get a few 4 string Spector's now and not own only 5 strings.
Everytime I see this bass I get another huge bout of SAS. I don't own any green basses and this is the best looking greene of any bass I've ever seen. Now maybe I need to combine my lust for green with my lust for an old NS2 and kill two birds with one stone.
Anybody here ever strip down the finish on an NS2 and replace it with a translucent flat stain? Not sure what the body wood is on the NS2 or if it's multi plank or remotely attractive wood grain, all I've ever seen in the NS2 line is solid body colors.
I'd love to buy one of those NS-2 w/badass bridge! It'd take me a year to pay for it though. :scowl:

That's great that you're prepared! I was a Boy Scout too...their motto stays with you for like doesn't it! I must say, when we sold our wood stove and got a wood pellet stove, that was nice having the wood stove during power outages, heat, light and cooking. We always have lots of candles, batteries, potable water, can goods and gas barbecue grill. The lake is only 100+ft. away so plenty of water. Hope & pray normalcy gets established soon on the east coast.

For sure John has one of the prettiest greens out there and the best woodgrain on a 5r I've seen! I never tire looking at it!
There's plenty of NS-2's here in our club that are not solid color. Seventhframe is an awesome example of exotic wood NS-2. Just watch and you'll see plenty being posted next couple days.
That sucks man, sorry. Hope for the best for you and things work out for you to keep that bass, it's awesome!
What's the scale on those things?
In my mind, it's in the "weird bass" category alongside the Kala U-Bass.
Weird not being bad...just different.
