:eek: Yeah. My eyes just got hernias. When I helped out at a shop a few years ago they carried the Phil Jones Stuff. I never thought anything would be heavier than Bag End's 4x10s... and then this box the side of a small house shows up one day and we had to open it in the street to get it inside. I forget what exact year it was but the PJB stuff had just come out big so that was the thing to stock and it was the biggest cab thy offered at the time... I forget how many 5s supes, you'd know better than me. But it hurt. A lot. What vehicle do you use to transport all of that for a gig? I'm picturing the suspension screaming "Oh no. He he comes. He's... he's bringing all of it.... dear God, why?! Why me?" :)

The big cab you unloaded was the 24B, loaded with two dozen of the 5" speakers. The cab alone weighs more than an SVT cab & head together!
My whole PJB setup weighs only a little more than an SVT rig, but hits way harder & deeper than my old SVT ever could.
I transport the entire rig as shown in the pics (along with a set of Moog Taurus pedals in an Anvil case, my FX pedal board, three Spectors, a small light show and my wife) in a Ford Escape. It took a long time & a lot of experimentation trying to fit everything in there, and when it is fully loaded, the rear end sags, & the engine & brakes groan.... :rollno:

we'll I gigged my NS2A last night for the first time. I thought it sounded great! It really needs a setup and a fret dressing, but I didn't do anything with that because I have some new hardware coming and I didn't feel like I wanted to do it twice!

I've just never owned multiple performance amps at once. Maybe a full rig and a little portable practice amp at most. The MB800 is perfect from my perspective because it can do a single small cab or a monster 412 or 410 and pull both off so great. It's particularly cool if I happen to play a joint that has a back line already; just pop the mb out of the gig bag pocket and plug the stack into it. My tone can go with me everywhere and the 800w rating is accurate and massive, but also cleans up nice at the lower volumes.

I run either a Crest Prolite 2.0 with two Sansamp RBI's (one clean, one dirty) into either a 4 ohm MESA PH412 or 4 ohm MESA PH610. I find that the Spectors really sound great through either of my MESA cabs and they won't be going anywhere anytime soon. I prefer the tone of the 412 but the 610 is a little bit smaller so easier to move around.

My 412 has seen all of my gigs this year.

Interesting that the 610 is smaller than the 412... Are they both in cases or free standing?

Do you ever use both cabs at once and run dirt through the 412 and clean through the 610 (quasi-Justin Chancellor-ish)? That would be a lot to take to a gig but it would sound gigantic.

Killer! I forgot - what preamp is in it? I liked mine a lot but I had to thin the gear. Beautiful bass though, and from a great home to a great home!

Both are free standing, but since the bands starting to play out more I may consider looking into a roadcase for the 412. The tolex is very rugged though, and the cabs still in awesome shape.

In my last band I ran an M Pulse 360 into both cabs, but that was with no RBI's. The two cabs actually blended really well together, and I've been considering bringing the 610 to the jam space (its just at my place right now) and hooking up both cabs again. We play at very reasonable volumes and two cabs would be complete overkill, but theres really nothing like standing infront of a literal wall of speakers blasting right back at you..

Here's a pic of both cabs side by side, and a current rig pic for reference.

Yep! I think that had to have been it. Once we figured out where to put it on the floor we were all ready to go home for the week

I wonder what those price out at now... Pjb comes pretty dear, but its audiophile-grade riggage... Man... 120 inches of speaker real estate... It was insane to just have it near you. It had its own gravity field. The only thing I've ever seen bigger was the gigantic SVT stack Ampeg had at NAMM one winter. I remember seeing it in BP with Hutch Hutchinson standing in front of it and he (along with almost any other human) looked like a hobbit next to it. Anyone remember that? It had a fully functional matching giant SVT head too... I think it was the middle of last decade....

That makes so much sense now looking at it. That staggered vertical 412 design (1st time I remember seeing that design was when Aguilar came out with the GS412 but I don't know if that's the origin) does make it more of a bear. But you're right:standing in front of your current rig with both cabs and running one clean and one dirty RBI out of each side of the Crown in to the 610 and 412 would be amazing. Overkill? Maybe, but that beautiful Spector 5 through it... Man. Heaven.
