I have a question for the players in bands/... I am in thought mode with another about starting a company that would rent tour buses at an affordable rate..these buses being old school buses turned into gig worthy buses. is this something you would consider or are all of your gigs close to home?

Most of our shows are within a 60 mile radius with a few that reach out to 120 miles, we have a trailer loaded with our equipment that three of us can haul. We once had a school bus that had a chair lift which made it easy to load because of the step height, it needed a divider to keep the equipment stowed in back and bunks would have helped.

You know what's funny? Working in the testing department for my local cable company, I get access to the newest tech VERY fast. I own the newest cable receiver available, but I use it for 2 shows. >.> My kid uses it for Treehouse & Disney. lol

That sounds nice. Wish I'd had that back in the 80's. We made do with a truck (w/27 foot box) a van and a car. It was a five man band with 4 crew members. Five years living out of a suitcase. Whew! That s**t would kill me today!

So the festival yesterday went as smoothly as possible. It even rained for an hour before the show started, but everything went off without a hitch

I got a million compliments on my playing, tone and of course choice in bass. I was talking a lot to the novice kid bassists about Spector and what the bass role is in a band, it was an extremely fulfilling experience Thanks to you all for cheering me on! There were about 1500 people, so that was fun too, even a guy from my office

You and that Bass look way cool on stage man! That sure added to the "I am a star" feeling for the singers.

Ok, who can answer this: why do the U.S. and CR 5-string Spectors have a different headstock shape than the standard 4-string?

The Legend 5 keeps the 4-string headstock design, so why not the others? Is it a technical issue (thinner neck on the Legends)? The original headstock looks so much better to me.

I don't know the reason, but I agree with you. I love the regular headstock on a 5 string.

I think it had to do with string angle through the nut on the strings positioned closer to the nut. It helps to reduce potential binding if the string doesn't have to make a sharp turn after exiting the nut. Personally, I like the paddle, too.

We need a reality tv show at the Spector facility, they can have PJ running in with new orders and Stuart developing templates for new options...they can have some drama like American chopper had...lol

The regular gas with automatic was cool in our bus also, we just never had the time to finish it out...Yours sounds very cool!

It depends on the sale of another vehicle

I mean why go for a van if you could have your own tour bus ??..my thoughts my .02

It comes down to a few things for me personally.

Our tour vehicle is my 2nd vehicle.

At this stage in our career as a DIY band, a bus would cost too much to operate. If we had a full crew, a bus would make more sense, but with only 2 crew max outside the band, a van works.

edit: I should note, having a tour bus would be awesome
