Watching scottsbasslessons, I have a sight gas for a Jazz bass....I played a "standard" coda last year and it was fantastic. I like the traditional jazz bass look.

I've seen a couple of used ones come up for dirt cheap...

Did Spector stop making the standard coda models? The ones that look like a standard jazz bass, not the coda deluxe models.

Yes, Spector has stopped production on the standard Coda basses. All of them now are without pickguards.

Maybe with flats it would sound "sweet & mellow", but as someone here once stated, "Putting flats on a Spector is like putting snow tires on a Ferrari".

I can tell by the neck-thru construction, the carved & arched body, the EMG soapbars, the shape of the peghead, the satin-black finished flame maple body, the serial number, etc.
Its a genuine Euro allright...

all of the Euro 5's have the soapbars. It's the 4 bangers that have the P/J or soapbar option.

I found the Soupbars to be very full and round in their sound. I like them quite a bit...especially with an Aguilar pre!!

Why not just replace the whole truss rod? It's inexpensive and you'd be sure the truss rod wouldn't give you any problems in the future. Good to see you on here again brother!

Thanks man good to be back. I've been working a bunch for the last few months and am finally getting some of my life back...lol.

I hand't thought of replacing the whole rod. I thought that would require removing the fretboard, but if all I'd have to do is slide it out and replace it I might just do that.

Is it really that easy?

When the time is right I want a Coda P in black with a BEM neck, I think it will look cool without a pick guard but I also want it to look more traditional and simple.

At least you can buy a Spector truss cover - Rickenbacker won't even sell you one without an exchange..

Couple day ago I ordered a few parts for a HAZ 9v circuit that I have in the Euro and HAZ Labs said that they are getting close to having enough for Spector to start selling again. HAZ is great to deal with and will pretty much sell you everything you need except the board itself. For reference, it is cheaper (Much) to order pots from them than the Spector store. But, someone else I was talking to said that PJ quoted them $500 for the 9v circuit the other day.

Correct, and I only pointed it out to show it could be worse - at least you can get the covers from Spector.
I fully understand & support Ric's thinking on this one.

I wanted to order a black Ric truss cover & PG for my Jetglo 4003, but I still wanted to keep my original white truss cover, so that little project never happened....
