1st Saturday!

It's never too late to see a nice bass.

Thanks Jack, I need to spend some time getting better pictures of my basses....some of you guys are great with a camera!

Me too. I totally suck with my bass pictures. It never looks as good as it does in person. The wood grain always washes out. My camera is also a phone which may explain it, but damn it's over 10 megapixel, should take better pictures. Which leaves operator error as the main culprit.........

Has anyone tried the Nordstrand Big Singles or Fatstacks in their Spector Euro LX (5 or 6)? How do they sound in comparison to the EMGs DC?
We have one member that consulted with Nordstrand and sent his NS-5H to them to have a second pickup routed and 2 big Nords installed. Maybe he'll chime in. He's pretty busy with his band right now. I know he loves the Nords.

WOOHOO!!... next weak is going to be a fun one, got the NS4 coming and I just got an Email from best bass gear saying the super doubles for my forte SS are on the way as well.:D:roflmao::D:bassist:

I checked with Best Bass Gear, yesterday, and mine are on the way, too. As we had speculated, they had ordered a batch of Super Doubles. So you get yours at the same time I get mine, even though I ordered about a week earlier. Also, I'll get a set of PJ GZR pickups in next week. Win/Win...

I think you'll like the geezers, my euro w/haz is alot deeper and less twangy than it was with the active emgs

Passive pickups tend to be less twangy and treble sounding, than the active pickups, that's why I changed out the active pickups, with TC, to passive pickups with the TC. What I'm looking forward to is comparing the GZR pickups to the SD SPB-1 & SJB-3 pickups, which are a good dynamic combination. They both have the same output when adjusted to the same height.

I missed First Friday, but here a few not so great pictures of my new SSD NS5-CR. I believe it was born around 1994, still has the original Czech Haz Copy Preamp. I believe it's been refinished, I love the black/dark grey burst. It plays and sounds like a killer! Hopefully I'll have some better pics soon

I have not, in a Spector, but have owned several FSOs (Fender shaped objects) with Big Singles and Fat Stacks. They are more polite than compared to EMG DCs. The Fat Stacks more polite than the Big Singles. Fat Stacks are low output passive, and are recommended to be run thru an 18v preamp. And yes, you can get Big Singles (or Big Splits, not sure of Fat Stacks) in the EMG 40 soapbar size. My favorite jazz-style pickups are the Big Splits, they just do it for me, where so many jazz pickups just leave me cold. Now EMGs are so "in-your-face", and that has a certain appeal to some people, but that tone is not for everyone.

I didn't want to start a new thread but I figured this would be the best place to ask a question. I saw Cannibal Corpse and Cryptopsy the other night and now I've got some GAS for a Spector Euro 5lx, only problem is I can't find any Spector dealers. Musiciansfriend only has the black cherry and it's currently unavailable. Never seen a Spector at guitar center. The only selection I've found is from Bass Central and they only have two 5 string Euros available. I've tried searching used as well. Do I need to contact Spector or Bass Central directly? Bass Central has the Alex Webster signature model that I really like but it's a bit more than I wanted to spend. Thank you.
