Are you even allowed to buy from him right now with the embargo on Russia?

Hmm well honestly, I'm not the right person to ask that to.
I have both ukrainian and russian family, and regularly order stuff from there.
So technically it's possible, no problem.

Now whether it's allowed - I wouldn't even know who to ask lol.
Nobody told me it was forbidden, and I certainly never asked for permission either.
And that's exactly the best possible interaction with any state official I can envision for myself ;)

I PMed him a while back not realising he was based in Russia, he said he couldn't ship it

Got a chance to use the euro 4 with sncPre and my new GK character pedal. Did not disappoint. Punch, clarity, and growl.

Now that my upgrades are done, Sheldon was nice enough to sell me a repair kit for the spare Khaz I got from @avi including tone control pots and resistors, and he gave me the model numbers and a link to buy the volume pots. I have a spare 40DC here on my desk. I'd like to buy an inexpensive 5 string project bass to fit this into (I'd have to buy 1 more pickup). Are the Performers even worth looking at? I'm not even sure they have a control cavity this preamp would fit in. I guess I'm looking at either another NS2000/5, a Legend 5, or an NS95 if I can find one. Any advice on the lower model lines would be appreciated.

How about a Rebop? Basically a bolt-on Euro without the frills. Got mine for under $500, upgraded the pickups and added a BTS. Just not entirely sure a KHAZ format will fit in the cavity.

The BAZ can be super small, not sure whether the pic will show up but here's a try anyway :

I don't remember whether that's the THB2 or 3, but I'll definitely order one at some point this year.
That's a THB3, three band preamp, bass, mid and treble with dip switch control to shift the peak frequencies for bass and treble. Mids are fixed.

Buy? I'd say yes. Problem is, that Paypal or Western Union stopped offering their services in Russia which makes it kinda complicated to pay him. Don't know if good ol wire transfer works, but that's far more expensive.

What is a baz? KHAZ is a korean Haz, right? What about Sheldons HAZ? Whats the name for that one?
Baz is a russian guy, who constructed the mentioned THB3 preamp which is based on a HAZ but is not strictly a clone of the HAZ bc of the switches. He is also a member of TB @BaZZZZZ .

Here's the THB3 in action:

No, it won't fit. For some reason, the Rebop's cavity is much smaller. No 9V-HAZ shaped preamp will fit. Best would be a BTS, which is really great with the Rebop, BQC works too, although it will get crowded. No idea if they changed the cavity size in the EuroBolt.

Attention Leftys! My local GC (Plymouth Meeting, PA) is selling a Euro 4lx in really good condition for $899! They've listed it as a Rebop Dlx and have clearly priced it accordingly.

I didn't plug it in but did give it a once over and it looks to be in great shape (one very small pencil point-sized mark on the headstock). One or two other small marks, barely discernible. Needs a good cleaning, but otherwise looks ready-to-go (assuming it produces sound). Incredible deal for any left-handed Spector enthusiasts.

I've been waiting for them to post a picture for a week and a half... I definitely chuckled this morning when I saw the photo and that it was a left handed early Euro.

I'm not sure if this is in your budget but...

Man, that's pretty. I used to have one just like it back in the early 2000's. Regrettably that's about double my budget for this project.

There's also an NS2A with a Kahler trem listed as a Legend Neck Thru online:

Thanks for the suggestion, this is a fantastic bass (so much so that I own one in this exact color) but I I'm going with a 5 string for this project. I just don't play 4 strings much these days.

What about something like this:

For Sale - Price Drop 0 Spector NS2000/5

(I have no affiliation with the seller)

That is definitely on my short list to consider. I was also looking at this one, but I don't know much about the Q5's other than they're the slab bodied predecessors to the Legends. Not sure how the neck compares to the NS2000/5. Spector Q5 Pro 5 String Emghz 35" scale W/ tan Ibanez Power Pad (Soft Case) | Reverb
I had a Q6 pro, made in Korea in the early 2000s. I worked for a dealer and ordered it brand new. It was a very solid bass and I gigged it for quite a while. The neck was pretty slim in profile. I think I paid $600ish for it new (that's probably getting another 15-20% off street price cause I worked for the shop). For the money, I think the NS2000 gets you more bass, and much more of the spector experience. The Q pro was cool, but nothing compared to a Euro 6lx I had, or even the ns pulse I've got now.

The khaz won't fit in a Legend. It won't in mine at any rate without some modification.

Where can I get a new nut for a Spector NS Pulse 2 bass?

I purchased a brand new Spector NS Pulse 2 four string bass guitar this past summer. Unfortunately, the slot for the E string was cut too low and the bass buzzes on the open E string. As well, when I fret the sixth fret on the E string, the string vibrates against the first fret and unfortunately it is audible when I play this instrument. I know this sounds bizarre, but I had the dealer confirm this.

I have changed out the stings twice since this summer (I'm on my third set) and the store where I bought the bass set up the bass twice to try to address this. To finally remedy this problem, they put a piece of paper in the bottom of the fret slot so I can at least play this bass guitar without the buzzing.

I took it into the store where I purchased this several months ago to address this issue and he is waiting for a reply from his distributor. I have talked to the owner of the store several times over the past several months and he is still waiting for a response from his distributor.

So now I'll try to source a new nut myself. I've tried Amazon, Ebay and Reverb with no luck. Any suggestions?
