Firstly does anyone know why Stuart decided to make the 5 and 6 string headstocks on the US/Euro basses differ so much from the 4 string? Visually I think the 4 string headstock is perfect, but the 5 string headstock to me looks a little unco. I think the 4string HS on the 5 would have looked great.

Secondly, and admittedly this may just be my imagination, but are the Euro 5 string hesdstocks very slightly different to the US ones? To me the US ones look slightly narrower, but it may just be the smaller Gotoh tuners.

Any got any ideas, or do I just have ridiculous OCD?!

I've always wondered the same. And seeing as a few have tossed in their 2cents about this have to say that I prefer the 4 string headstock compared to the 5/6's. That itself was the reason I scooped up my NS2000/5 instead of a Euro 5. (I'm no where near affording a US build right now, even If I liquidated my current stockpile!)

Today may FINALLY be NSD for me, still waiting on the Euro that was shipped express to me last Monday. Per Canada Post express SHOULD be 3 days, its been 10 now. :rollno::rage::mad::thumbsdown::thumbsdown:

The seller, Duff2, has already secured a full refund on the shipping for us.

I am in the camp that I really like my Forte 5 even though it's 35" scale.
I have a ridiculous NS-2 already and do not really have a need for 2 basses that sound the same, and I do not want to change anything on Omers's old bass just because.
No smoking gun that I know of......I think they are awesome! best bass for the money I have EVER bought!!!!
Can't blame you for wanting an NS-2! drool

You have got to be kidding me. As far as "limited runs" go, I don't see the draw. Sure, it's a great bass, but $7500?! Someone must really want one of those.
My mind immediately goes to the U.S. custom Spector I could have built for that much money. Crazy.

I've owned both Forte 4s and 5s over the past couple of years. Prior to the Helium option, the Forte was like that old joke about the Ford model T (you could have it in any color you want as long as it's black, black or black!). Fortes are outstanding basses for the money. But not everyone is down with the super-stealth thing they have going on. The necks are also fairly chunky, which some don't care for. I like 'em but that's just me. Others many not like the OBP pre and want to drop the extra $500 for a US9V. It could also be sheer economics. You can get a used Forte for many hundreds less than a full-on NS-2.

I don't think that there is any smoking gun, really. Just personal preferences, I guess. (Just my two cents, obviously).

I personally really like the stealth look and no inlays. Having a nice contrast the blinged out other basses, that just crushes tonally, is ideal for me. Plus, Todd is going to install a Tone Capsule in my Forte #001R on it's way to me. Really getting excited for that one!!!

That wasn't meant to be a slam against Fortes. They are a tremendous value for a US-made Spector, especially if you can pick one up used. Arguably, the best value in the US Spector lineup. As Lee would say, it's just another (different) slice of awesome. drool

And I'm a big fan of no inlays and blacked out hardware as well. Obviously. Haha. :thumbsup:

And since it was the first Forte4 (#001) Spector agreed to make a replacement for Tony and add the "R" to the serial number. Once again this shows how cool Stuart and PJ (I'm sure Todd played a part too) and Spector in general is. Kudos guys!
