Spector 6 string?

Im looking at a Spector Legend 6, and would love some info on the basses. Im used to my thin Ibby necks and Ive never played a Spector 6 and there are none in town, so Im thinking of taking the risk and ordering it. Advice? Thoughts?

They have similarly thin necks - much thinner than the Euro counterparts. Quite comfortable to play, but unfortunately also have neck dive. You'll probably also want to look into a new preamp for the bass - the Tone Pump Jr that comes standard is not well-received around these parts.

That being said, I own one, and almost pulled the trigger on another about 5 months ago when I saw that GC had a used one.

very similar necks IMO i only own 2 basses atm, an SR and a spector legend 4, bought the legend b/c i love my sr's neck.

also the tone pump jr is ok... it's nothing special but I don't dislike it. It would be nice if it had a cut/boost as opposed to boost only though.

glad to help, they're incredibly underrated basses it seems like. Feel means more than a preamp IMO.

agreed, preamps can be replaced, feel cant!
is 500 used a good price for 400 worth of upgrades on this bass + retail value?

depending on if the upgrades are ones you want that's not a bad price. IIRC i payed 300 for mine used stock with case if that gives you a reference. (its in good condition, common play wear.)

I'd pay $500 for it, especially if it already had TW's. I'd ditch the OBP-1 for something that wasn't boost-only though, like an OBP-3. FWIW, my Spector Legend 6 has a 45-TW, 45-P, and OBP-3.
