I Left the house cause i stopped playing bass and have played guitar and keys since just getting back to bass now. Ill put up a pic if no one laughs with outfit and hairdo LOL of the old spector
Interesting how Spector is putting the TW's on the Euros now and the DC's remain on the USA models. Just got a Euro LX 5 with the TW pups and really dont like them. The single coil mode is the same sound as the dual but with reduced volume. Whats up with that? Personally I like the DC over the TW.
I really did not dig the TWs in my Euro either. Single coil mode sounded weak and almost unusable to me. Im no expert in pickups, but I feel like they could be doing much better for themselves than sticking with EMG for everything.
On the higher end models, there should at least be other options.
There are options, you just have to ask.
Seriously, if I hadn't asked about a 34" scale NS5XL, I wouldn't be considering ordering one...

Hold on a sec... Yup. There are still TWs in my USA.
Either this is a new development, you're generalizing or you're mistaken. In any case, your assessment of TWs is over-simplified at best. When I first got mine a couple of years ago I would have agree with you. The more I played them and the accustomed I became to them, the more I realized it's more fat v. thin than anything. Any disconnect is the fault of the player.
Rebop is home and playing i suck at pics but oh well ill get one up eventually has a little wear round pickups where the guy played otherwise totally solid and kinda light . Dont remember my NS2A being that light

Its the only pic i have so far we actually just got back together after 15 years as a band no hair now LOL. Ill try and find some more picks of the bass. Totally lovin the Rebop in fact with the custom bass im having built (pics below) Im using the exact neck dimensions as the Rebop. Damn neck is so fast and comfortable and since i love its sound im also installing 35HZ'z in my wicked rare custom Westone 8 string that being convereted right now at Holcomb Guitars and in the custom bass that they are building for me. I actually have some pics withbraided hair ala Winger LOL and the colored tape he used. Just gotta get in touch with a few old fans LOL. By the way if its available id like number 98 its my luck number
If I were playing golf and blamed my 4 iron for hitting into the rough I would agree with you. I bought this one a week ago new because I wanted a matte black color. This my 3rd Euro and I dont like the sound of the TW's. I dont need to spend months getting accoustomed to their sound. Moreover I got it from a well known dealer in the panhandle who had an older description of this basses pickups as DC not TW dual coil. We're working that out now and I appreciate him making the effort. They're also updating their web site as a result of this to. So if you are saying there is little to no difference in sound between the 2 then I beg to differ....and I seldom beg. That would be like Mike Tobias suddenly replacing his pickups with a different type, putting it out there and expecting us to accept it. Why Spector has discontinued using DC's (acording to PJ ) in favor of these TW's has not been explained. I think it's a step backwards.

I don't look at the pickups as a step backward, but rather a different flavor. Yes, IMO, they do sound different than the DC, however, I really can't make an objective assessment since my DC pickups are run though the HAZ pre and the TW though an EMG pre.
Different flavor, I'll agree. These TW's thru the same rig as my other LX with DC's sound darker and a little compressed. I like the zing of the DC. The output is about the same on both. The single coil is nothing to text home about.
Ok, I know I posted it before, but I'm really excited now that the wheels are in motion! I've always LOVED Spector basses and I had a NS5CR(which I thought was ok)a few years ago and I've got a Euro 4lx(which I LOVE!)right now, But I've always wanted a USA NT! When I actually had the means to buy a US Spector, I bought US MTDs, Pedullas, Roscoes, & Warwicks instead. Out of all those, all I have left is 1 US MTD(I had 2), which I'm selling, and my Euro 4(I have a Stingray 5 and another custom bass, but those don't count!). I'm happy to say that my dream of owning a USA NT Spector is about to come true! I just put a deposit on a Forte 5 a couple of days ago and I hope to have it by the end of next week! What really sold me was the black hardware and no inlay on the fretboard-That's why I enjoyed my time with my MTDs, Roscoes, and Warwicks! I know everyone here knows what Spectors look like, but I'll put up some pics when she gets here! In the meantime, here's my Euro 4

Update:
So I went ahead and ordered the Legend bridge. I asked PJ, but he was away at NAMM at the time. By the time he replied, it was a done deal. The good news is that his email and what I discovered first hand said the same thing: a Legend bridge will drop right in to an NS-2A cavity.
I (very timidly) knocked down the bad headstock finish with some 400/800/1000/2000/Meguiar's. The worst of the melted finish is taken care of, but some of the color along the sides came off with the painter's tape. This bad boy's gonna have to go out for a complete refin someday. In the meantime, the chips are covered up with clear nail polish to try and prevent further paint loss.
I'm still puzzled about the appearance of the inlay, though. It looks to me like someone masked it off, shot black and then another layer of clear. Does everyone else's inlay look like it's even with the black, or is there a shadow there? It's driving me nuts; I'd sand it back further to find out, but I'd hate to ruin it. It's not like Les Paul inlays that can be ordered easily, y'know?
