A shadow? We are gonna need a pic. The inlays themselves should have a bit of depth to it...almost like there is a bit of space between the pearl and the clear...at least thats how they look to me.

If only I could manage to photograph this correctly. There's certainly a depth between the logo and the clear, but there's more depth between that and the black surrounding it. The more I look at other Spectors here, the more I'm convinced that a previous owner shot a new black/clear over the existing clear. It's hard to articulate fully, but what I'm seeing here just looks wrong.
So, I have a Legend 5 in Slate Grey w/ Gold Hardware on the way. I ordered it from Bass Central. This will be my first foray into the world of Spector. I'm stoked, I played the 4 string version at a local music store here on Okinawa, however the price was a bit unreasonable.

Oh, and if anyone hasn't noticed it looks as if the Zebrawood-topped ReBop DLX Exotic Tops commonly referred to as "ZeBops" are going to be discontinued, as Musician's Friend has just lowered the prices to $799.99 (the same price as the Mike Kroeger Signature Legend model... HA!) & $899.99 for the 4 and 5-strings respectively
I'd imagine they haven't been selling all that well since the ReBop's Street Price was raised from $1149 up to $1469 for the 5-string about three years ago - that's a *large* percentage of the price to jump up, especially when the "ReBop MK I non-DLX" models (No Maple top, No Crown Inlays) were discontinued at around 6 bills before the switch to the Deluxe version. At least some of us Spector Bolt-On lovers will more-than-likely grab an absolutely killer bass at a steal of a price before they're all gone. ...but it figures that I *just* won & paid what was then a pretty good deal on a barely-used ZeBop 5 not 5 days ago but what is now the price of a new bass with warranty and free shipping. At least I have the fortune of being able to see the top on mine and tell it's in the upper-levels of Zebrawood-topped Spectors, but I somehow feel like I can't win for trying.
I'm going to show this to the seller, explain that I could return his and purchase one with the above "bonuses" and try to at least get my shipping waived... the worst he can do is say "No".

The more I play my Spector's the more I think it's worth the money I paid of them. At first I kind of thought it was bit much money, but everytime I play them I like them even more. If you can't return it, just play the heck out of it and realize what a great bass your getting. If you play it enough, it'll be worth it.

This is one of the best top I've seen on euro models.
For me it was so hard to decide between 4 and 5 strings but this one helped me a lot to make a decision.
I've had 96 made Ibanez ATK300 for 11 years now..
And this one will be with me for another 11 years or longer! lml
The possibility of returning it was much more of a bluff then anything else - having seen the top on the one I purchased (certainly a "10-Top" in terms of the pieces of Zebrawood that Spector uses considering all of the "ZeBops" I've seen), knowing it's almost a nice as my 4-string top (perhaps the sweetest "ZeBop Top" I've ever seen!) and knowing the "Barely Used" condition, I didn't want to go through the hassle of returning it & waiting for my payment to be refunded should MF.com sell their stock of Zebrawood 5-strings... and not knowing the figuring of the top I'd wind up with then.
...by to my surprise, things have turned out positive! I PMed the Seller (a Physical Store), informed them of the reduction in price online, and asked politely if they'd consider refunding my shipping costs. Within 5 minutes I got a PayPal email with a refund of said shipping cost and an eBay reply saying that they completely understand my position, that their policy was to keep the customer happy (if possible), that I was extremely polite in my asking (see, treat people like you'd want to be treated and thinks tend to work out for you - I've found simply being polite like my mother taught me has gotten me refunds like this, seating upgrades at concerts, and generally great service overall) and that the bass has been upgraded with Active EMGs which would add $200 to the price of a stock ReBop... but that the shipping refund was still do-able. Feeling this was worth more than an e-mail "Thanks" I gave the shop a call and spent the next 20 minutes discussing it and the current (sad) state of the instrument market with the co-owner, who repeated the above but stressed that it was how polite I was in my interactions with them (I had also asked them earlier how the bass was going to be shipped) compared to a good deal of online shoppers/bidders who "demanded things we're not in a position to do, whereas you simply asked nicely" and that my calling to thank them "made his day and put a smile on my face" as opposed to an email from a (relative) stranger. Anyway, if you're looking for used gear check out Link Removed, ask for "Rick" and tell him Ian sent you - they'll do right by you!
...now, I just have to wait for my new bass to arrive tomorrow so I can see how she plays and start a "NBD" thread!

This is my first bass guitar with EMGs. They sounds very clear and articulate but powerful and punchy at the same time.
When they are in single coil mode, the volume is quite lower. It seems hard to cope with the volume change in the middle of playing a song.
My bass is 35" scale and it came with 105-gauge strings. So popping needs a little more effort. Maybe I'm gonna try 100-gauge nickel strings next time.
Anyways.. Spector Euro is a incredibly well built instrument and the more I play it the more I love it, haha
BTW, anyone can recommend me a combo at around $300?
Mine is a Warwick Take12 and it sounds so dull in mid range.
An anonymous cheaper amp at my practice room sounds better:scowl:
