Spector Euro Rebop?

Has anyone ever dealt with these basses?
I am offered to buy a used one ($1000).
Not sure if it's a fair price for a Czech-made bass.
Opinions?

Imo, $1,000.00 USD is a bit much for that bass. As much as I love Euro spectors, they've not held their value much over the last 4-5 years.

Considering the deluxe models retail for about $1,300.00 (maybe less if you shop around): unless you are head over heels in love with that bass, I'd hold out. Also it doesn't look like it's in the best condition from the pics (at least not on the headstock). Is that the case?

I paid about $1,100 total for two 5-string rebops, and about $375.00 for a 4 that looks just like the one you're looking at. Here's mine; pardon my crappy camera. I noticed that same flaw on the headstock..hmmm......

I don't have much to say that hasn't been said already although I believe the neckthru and deluxe models hold their value pretty well. Seems like there's a big drop from new to used but no more than most basses. And considering used Warwicks are in the $1k-$2k range when most cost over $3k new, the Spector seems like a better investment.

Anyways, the Rebops are good basses as-is. But change out the pickups and preamp and you've got a great bass. As mentioned, $1k is way overpriced for a standard Rebop...if it was a deluxe with some nice figuring and inlays...maybe.

NKUSigEp raises some good points here, isky. Shop around for a Neck-thru model; you'd likely find one of those for $1,000.00, often less.

Also, the "older" Euro models pre-2004 (?) (Rebops included) had the Aguilar preamp as opposed to the newer ones (tonepump) which for whatever reason aren't very popular. Ask whoever's offering you a Spector for sale to remove the battery cover. Aguilar preamps will have that name on them.

A little overpriced..........(no offense plz.)
I bought mine 1 month ago for $775.00 shipped.
Mine is a Rebop 5 with upgraded pick ups(emg 40dc neck and emg 40cs bridge) and upgraded pre-amp(emg bqc system) with a hardshell case.
I've seen Euros on that price range.($1,000)

I tried that particular Spector this morning. It plays and sounds great!
There's only one thing I don't like. When I turn the "High freq" knob all the way clockwise there's a kind of hissing on the background. I'm not sure if it's smth to do with EMG HZ pups or smth else.

Pull back the high freq from 'max' and it'll be fine. There's just more tonal variation available than you (or most of us) need ;)

Why are your E & A string wrapped the wrong way round the tuner?
