Umm, have to respectively disagree here...Warwicks (Streamers utilize the NS body style without license, the NS was first) don't sound a thing like Spectors. Different pickups, electronics, woods, and necks like baseball bats...well, that speaks more to feel, but still...


...I'd buy an MK...and then put active electronics in it, LOL!

I really dig Spectors, hell I have one that I love playing...but I agree with the earlier statements, if you're gonna create a SIGNATURE instrument...make it different than the others:rolleyes:

haha dont we all hate signature models as most of them have no taste practical use of any sort as this spector proves as we have all come to know is only to sell basses but w/ this man mike in mind what does he have to show to us bass players that will make anyone think that "hey it's his sign. imma go by it" nothing at all as it's nothing special at all i mean spector has prided themselves on fine oil colors n stains n this lame all black bass w/ a lame m in lay in the 3rd fret i mean the 3rd fret why? please someone tell me n mike is nothing special at all w/ his playing style or tone he has such a huge rid w/ a completely seprate guitar rig and why when you can barly hear him most the time n weh nyou do it doesn't even mix w/ the the whole band at all i think this was a very bad move for spector...i'd like to see bassists w/ real talent and real heart get a signature thank you bye

This is fact. Mike had a deal with Warwick but he went to Spector (can't say why). BUT, he stilluses the Warwicks when recording. He uses a couple of Thumb 5's.

Not trying to be rude, but posts like this are so hard to follow and read that I just skim right past them even if there's good info in them (again I wouldn't know here).

Spell check, spacing, and organization can do wonders...

Mike is nothing special at all, with his playing style or tone, he has such a huge rig with a completely seprate guitar rig! And why? When you can barely hear him most the time,and when you do hear him, it doesn't even mix with the whole band at all. I think this was a very bad move for Spector...I'd like to see bassists with real talent and real heart get a signature bass.

Not true about Mike using Warwick in the studio on the newest album, "All The Right Reasons". Mike was in the May 2005 Bass Player magazine under the "In the Studio" section. He used a Spector NS-5XL with passive electronics. He prefers the passive system because it gives "...great dynamic range..." and "...a woodier, meatier tone...".
