Spector P/J, TWs, DCs?

I'm a big fan of P/J's and "leave it alone if it already kicks ass". I've played them all and gone back to the P/J setup with the pump at 18v.

The DC / TW shape is cool because you can swap what you want in there. I don't much care for the other pre's myself other than the HAZ and the pump. I think the pump is a little better for pick players actually, but thats just me.

Some didn't like the TW's because of the volume drop. Also it's not and never will be a fender so don't expect it to sound like one reguardless of pup config.

I say run the original FTW! P/J! and let it eat / rip /snot/ and make stink like it was ment to . Just a brutal tone with p/j and the pump @ 18v. just my .02

The 4LX TW for sale that Pills Are Yummy linked to is mine. I didn't notice any volume drop. I have another Euro 4LX TW with DCs and the US 18V Pre and the TonePump Equipped TW is definitely hotter by a wide margin.

I love the sound of the TP equipped TW but the 18V DC model I have is basically a Czech made NS-4 and it is now my workhorse.

I recently put a pair of twx's in my rebop with the tone pump and I love it, their are a lot of killer tones available with the tone tump and the single/dule coil switching and the volume drop with the single coil mode is eliminated in the x series so that's not an ishue for me.
I also have a euro lx4 classic with p/j's in it and I find myself wishing i'd gone with the tw's on that one as well.

How about P(neck)+DC(bridge) compare to DC+DC?
I play metal,hard rock ,pop music, a little funk.
Mine is with DCs.
I'm considering replace the neck DC with P or not.

I have a Spector NS5CR that has EMG 40DC pickups and a Aguilar OBP-3 preamp. I dont like the tone of the bass att all. Compared to my 4-string Spector Euro with TW and tonepump it does sound thinner. Even though the OBP-3 has lots of bass and treble in it but the bass is to low and the treble to brittle. I am thinking about switching the preamp for a EMG BQC or a Tone Pump. Or should i change pickups instead? Maybe a P/DC combo? I play power metal.
